Just had a text from my daughter saying it was -18 in the Birmingham area last night.
A comfortable 0 here,just cold enough to make it nice and slippery.
Much more of this and I’m definitely hibernating.

On the way to visit my mother this afternoon,I slipped where the kerb should have been,leaving a worryingly large depression in the snow.
That’s the second time I’ve fallen over this century. I blame global warming.

There must be about four inches of snow on the ground here.
Last night it was -11 here near Gatwick,the coldest night of my life as far as I know.
I live in a close on a slight slope,and cars can’t get in or out. There are no buses running,and the only sound you can hear is my neighbour opposite trying to dig his car out. He’ll be lucky,there’s another heavy snowfall forecast for this afternoon.
Is there anyone reading this in the UK who isn’t looking out on a white world ?
And if you’re sweltering in the heat somewhere else in the world ….. please be quiet :p

Some days you just think,what’s the point eh ?
I was in your neck of the woods last week,well the west midlands anyway ( my daughter acted as interpreter 😀 )
What lovely friendly people,much more affable than down here.
Better fish and chips too.

Things’ll get better.

It’s as though in becoming a parent yourself,you become a parent to all children.
And eventually,maybe even to your own parents.
My Mum has to be fed and changed,and talks to her teddy-bear just like my daughter did when she was a baby.
This evening,for the first time,she even called me Mum.
I can’t bear it.

It just occurred to me that barrythemod who used to post regularly in this thread hasn’t put in an appearance for ages,does anyone know why ?
