you can’t even get China’s strike platform and the weapon systems or why it choose that correct, what can I say?

so show me the unique strike platform and weopon system.

exactly my point, the Russians will say whatever to export their stuff.

nonsense. no country buys military equipment just based on public statments. every thing is evalutated for years by Military Professional in there field and offcourse Price and Tech and continutiy of Political agreement is cornerstone of weoopon dealings between two countries. it is alot more complex than giving statements to Kanwa.

still really off mark, but keep trying.

so how i am off the mark. when russia is upgrading supersonic bombers and going towards hyper velocity missile. russia is intellectually the most advance nation on earth. they know to do things ahead of time and in cost effective way.

“We will be receiving two [strategic] aircraft every three years, and we are satisfied with that,” Army General Vladimir Mikhailov said, adding that the upgraded fleet will include both new and modernized Tu-160 Blackjack, Tu-22 Blinder and Tu-95 Bear bombers

“Inside Intel we have an expression,” says Steve Chase, president of Intel Russia. “If you have something tough, give it to the Americans. If you have something difficult, give it to the Indians. If you have something impossible, give it to the Russians.”

This was actually an interview done in 2005 on 3M80MBE. So, he wasn’t talking about stealth from a 90s perspective.

again export version to a particular client.

the EAF’s F-16’s are almost brand-new,so there is no reason to replace tham in the near future..
about the phantoms, i know that the Egyptians had a hard time of maintaining them.and because of that, several groups of Egyptian technicians have been send to the US in order to learn how to maintaine thire F-4’s from professional US technicians…

but,i agree that time of the Egyptian f-4’s is about to end,and a replacment is needed..

the Egyptian pilots are one of the best in all of the Middle East, and thay are trained by the US. so i would not say that thire training is “pathetically poor “..
i know that the EAF had gained a bad reputation during the conflicts against Israel.
but time as change, and the EAF is only secend to the IDFAF in terms of training qualities.

    BTW
does anyone have a good photos of EAF f-4’s?

    thanks

so US training makes automatically equal or second best to Israel in middleast? there are alot of other factors involved which are far more important. i will put Iranian and Algerian above Egypt interms of airforce capability.

    One Against Ten

Russkiy Kur’er has been able to find out the combat potential of the new Russian fighter bomber
The military say that the Su-34 and Su-32 are aircraft which have no analogues in the world. Therefore, their performance is kept secret.

However, we have succeeded in getting some data in private conversations. One of the NAPO engineers told Russkiy Kur’er that each such fighter-bomber is able to simultaneously “have” ten targets and to knock out a battalion strong point with its missile and bomb load. At the same time, our source noted that an infantry battalion holds a line at the front of about 3 – 5 kilometers. And at a press conference after the first Su-34 test flight, it only was said that the new airplanes will begin to replace the Su-24 tactical bombers which have been in the air force inventory more than 20 years already

I took this picture from another form. If its real it does show Two centerline paylon side by side unlike Flanker. there is certainly more lift ability than Su-30.and how it can carry two moskits or that 3 large fuel tanks.

why the heck would China even want air launched version of this? Why would they want flankers or J-10s to carry anti-ship missiles at all. You are stating stuff that has no relevance.

so u think small number of PLAN fighters can handle economic blockade from Japanese or US navy. even that H-6 is too slow for this kind of mission. u need fast fighters for real time attacks on moving ships.

Hey Austin, I think the idea is that cruise missiles all tend to have pretty small RCS. But some missiles are smaller than others. After the Sunburn upgrade, the Russian developers even called it “stealthy”. But clearly, it’s still a behemoth compared to most other anti-ship missiles out there. If you look at Brahmos vs Klub, it has larger diameter, longer length and weight. Assuming that they are using similar RAM, Klub would have lower RCS.

sunburn belongs to different era compared to Klub. RCS is moving thing. a stealth object in late 70s is not stealthy for 90s. and surely not for 21st century.

Makes you wonder why they don’t just make the dart itself available as an air-launched antiship missile.

There newer version of Kh-31/Kh-35/Kh-59 all the time coming and they are cheaper and Fulcrum/Flanker can use 4 to 6. so good for saturation attack under 300km. and most of third world countries can afford this.
Now India has Brahmos. which i believe will go 500 to 1000 km in airlaunched version. but u need this kind of weopon if u are fighting USN. Even against PLAN it is overkill.
Chinese Flankers are obsolete to fully exploit Club range and J-10 cannot carry it.
so there is little chance of Air launched antiship Club.

Club/moskit are expensive systems i dont expect that much trials from customer and revealing operational details. China bought 150 Club missiles. so expect anywhere from $500m to $1B in cost alone.

    http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/NAVY/Klub.html
On 06 July 2006, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved the purchase of 28 Klub-S (3M-14E variant) land-attack cruise missiles at a cost of USD $184 million.

Have never heard before that Izd 117S (Al-41F1) has 1.500 MTBO periods, early in the program it was slated as 2.000 hours, later it was assumed as 1.000 hours, that was what caused my doubts.

Also the prices of the overhaul works are pretty weird, they’re lower than the numbers I manage from the Ukraine (not the expensive place on earth to get overhauls for your russkie engines, in fact one of the cheapest) and I have my doubts that such numbers are on-line even when the engine is in full-tests!

So I would like to see the source. Thanks.

how ukraine suppose to overhaul 117S when it has no access to it let alone setting price for overhaul. Engine is essentially complete on other test beds.
and price of almost everything has went up. just look at Western aircraft. so u cannot use some old prices for old engines.

And the deeper sense about that, when it comes to ETs? Even 5 Kh-59s are around 4 tons?!
To carry the airborne Moskit, at least two stations have be strengthed to 4 tons each.
The SKM is 3530 km clean transfer range.

    5 Kh-59MK is around 4.6tons
i am questioning 8 tons maximum weopon load. it is figure floating around from 90s when Flanker used to carry 4 tons. nothing revealed about the new ones except hitting 10 AtoG targets with radar. maybe KAB-500SE.
SKM example shows weight does effect the range. Su-27 and Su-30 not the same.

    Hey Jonesy,

I think you are overrating Klub a little bit here. Compared to Harpoon and Exocet, it’s still a much larger target. We don’t know how low this thing can fly, I doubt it can achieve the 3-5 m flying altitude in the terminal stage. On top of that, it’s guidance is probably much inferior. I remember reading a kanwa article a while back that it only hit 15 out of 20 targets. Not exactly a great hit ratio.

who actually fired 20 targets and who reveal the data and for what?
There was an exhibition in Indonesia just 2 to 3 months ago. Where there advertizement from Brahmos Co (probably from Indian side) about its Superority over other missiles (and that includes Club) and it was officially protested from Russia that how can they know all the capabilities of missile and for specific customers.
u can rest assure it may be down graded for China just like R-77.
I dont think India buy the same R-77 and other missile tech. just like MKI. same will be true for inside Brahmos. so it is a customer specific variants.

the above drawings obsolete. Su-30MK2 has 4 KH-59M. and Su-34 take weopons side by side on centre paylon not like Su-30MK2. So it should be 5 Kh-59. and there is Pibu article of two airborne Moskit.
Flight range of Su-27SKM is 3530KM.

It is from 2003 and showing already induction of Supersonic hit and range limitations of Brahmos due to control regimes.

    Dec 27, 2003,The Economic Times)
    A. Shivathanu Pillai, chief controller (R&D), DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace CEO-cum-MD, told The Times of India on Thursday that with the successful development and trials of the anti-ship version, BrahMos is now ready for production. “We’ve completed six successful tests from mobile autonomous launcher and warship to sea targets. The results of land-to-ship missions are remarkable. BrahMos warhead can hit the target nine times more powerful than a subsonic-class cruise missile,” Pillai said.

Analysts said the freedom to take decisions, better management skills and deployment of high-end technology came as a boon to this prestigious joint venture launched on February 12, 1998.

BrahMos will certainly be a force multiplier to the navies of India and Russia and the results confirm it as a superior lethal weapon available in the world today. With a range restricted to 290 km due to control regimes, BrahMos has the most-advanced guidance system of Indi an origin, that would give the Navy an edge over others.

Sources said no cruise missile in the world can match the capabilities of BrahMos. The Russian-made Moskit supersonic cruise missile (with a range of 120 km) is bulky and China has purchased the same and inducted it into two warships. Another Russian product, Club missile, is a subsonic weapon with a supersonic hit and is inducted by the Navy. Even the much-talked American Tomahawk missiles are subsonic which fly at one-third the speed of BrahMos

Just how easy it was in 90s to transfer tech.

During the first quarter of 1997, an experienced Russian klystron designer was invited to work at SLAC. The motivation was to gain some insight into Russian MBK technology through the paper design of a 1 MW, 12% klystron at S-band. The Russian engineer was Dr. Yuriy Besov, from Svetlana Electronics in St. Petersburg
Because of continued Air Force interest in this particular tube, a contract was awarded to Mission Research Corporation to simulate the design, using their 3 D MAGIC code

Wrong. It has already been marketed at Le Bourget. Export customers might not get production machines until 2010 at this point, but they can buy them right now.

Yes it has been shown for introduction but it is not clear for export. and there is very recent statement about it. Clear for export usually means that foreign pilot/experts can start indepth evaluation. so this thing isnt ready

That was an example used for the sake of discussion. Reading comprehension deals not only with grammar but with context as well.

u havent provided the clear context. u said design objective and than cost from outset but the unknown is cost. u cannot put figure on unknown Research and there is another thing of quantifying R&D values into dollars.

than there is Radar size decreasing with time with more powerful elemental base. so they have to take into account these unknowns which are impossible to implement before due processing limitations.

Enterprise “Svetlana” fills 70 % of the needs of Russian market for the semiconductors

ST. PETERSBURG, on 21 March. (ITAR- TASS). Enterprise “Svetlana” fills 70 % of the needs of Russian market for the semiconductors, reported the director general of company Vladimir Popov before the session VPK.

He also reported that untill 2011 enterprise will make 5-6 thousand semiconductor plates.

Before the Mil.-industrial session the first vice- premier Sergey Ivanov visited the hall of assembling technical equipment for the cultivation of new semiconductor materials. From them in the enterprises “Svetlana” are produced the promising models of the transistors, which, in turn, are used for creating the instruments of optical electronics (light-emitting diodes, lasers) and SHF- instruments.

The models of new nitride-gallium (Ga-Ni) semiconductors were showed to Ivanov. it’s reported that these semiconductors can survive temperature up to 300 C, they have higher, than usual, power and increased EFFICIENCY. Through these models Russia is located on the level of France and Japan and only little it lags behind THE USA, informed Ivanov the director general of “Svetlanas”. In this case, specified Popov, new transistors of this semiconductor withstood the testing by the temperature of 125 Cof more than 1000 h. the first vice- premier it noted that these are very good indices both for the civil and for the military instruments. “for rocket engineering – this it is sufficient. For a missile 30 min is sufficiently guaranteed “, said Ivanov.

The developments of enterprise “Svetlana” will make it possible to significantly decrease the sizes and the mass of the communication systems radars, utilized in the military sphere. With the successful experiences in the next only four years the radars size will be decreased three times
