Right the reason we cannot fit the H2s dome is there is nobody that can manufacture one to the ORIGINAL drawings out of perspex. Bae would not let us fit a fibreglass replica, so having flame dampers or new bomb aimers blister or any item manufactured to an original drawing using the correct spec of material is not a problem.
Which aircraft are they for Paul? The CHASSIS EMERGENCY LOWERING plate looks a little ‘square’ compared with the Mk V, IX & XI type which gets fitted to the edge of the IFF destruct button mounting bracket.
That one was copied from the MkVb the rest were copied from ones in the IIa,Vb & IX and are replacing missing items from our a/c
Thanks for the comments, I really enjoyed being involved with the book. The Lanc book is due out next April.
Are these the ones you are after
Although it isn’t the kind of thing that gets publicized in books, LLA has already donated in the region of £50k towards the Spitfire restoration.
The cash for the Lanc is extra.
That is correct LLA have indeed supported the rebuild of TE311 and many other projects on BBMF. The exhaust shrouds will be manfactured and fitted prior to the 2008 season.
Getting a turret operational will cost a lot more than 30k as for the H2s dome we have looked at that several times and cannot find a company to make such a large perspex item.
2 Cowling fasteners
3a Looks like paint has come off the door attachment countersunk bolts

Thanks for the replies however I have a couple of questions as I have been sent a good quality picture by Voytech
1 On the picture the canopy frame is not silver could it be green??
2 The top eng cowl and tank panel are darker than the rest of the aircraft is it possible that those two items are still in camo ? or have they been painted some other colour to act as anti glare ?
When I zoom in to the cowls I believe I can see cam lines but it could be shadow, over to the experts
I believe the heavy spot is usually positioned diagonally opposite to the valve which is a heavy spot on the wheel hub.
Roger Smith.
The red dot on the tyre is the light spot and is positioned next to the valve on the wheel, the tyre doesn’t have a heavy spot.

The Mk XIX BBMF Spitfire was there for the launch of the Haynes ‘Spitfire Owners Handbook’ and was used as a backdrop for a photocall.
