What a ridiculous thing to say. As is understood by the Russians, Chinese and Americans currently and the South Koreans and Japanese in the future your hopes of stealth being useless is completely unfounded in reality.

I never said that stealth was useless, I said that stealth better serves in a stealth UCaV than in a multirole manned fighter. Both can be used in combination along with stand off weapons at the fraction of the life cycle cost of an all stealth fighter fleet.

For starters a stealth UCaV doesn’t even have to fly to keep pilots proficient, and your vanilla regular fighter doesn’t lug around all that extra drag that a stealth fighter does, not to mention the stealth related maintenance.

Of course when France eventually jumps on the stealth bandwagon you won’t be saying these things i’m sure.

What people don’t seem to realise is that it is becoming more and more dangerous to emit at all, so basically you’re going to be forced to turn of your radar most of the time if you don’t want to get detected.

a plane attacking the US is never going to use its radar to look for the F22s at the risk of being detected by its emissions, so what’s the point of making the F22 stealth in the first place? No wonder they stopped manufacturing the thing, as the thing is very expensive and useless.

On the other hand for strike a stealth platform comes in handy, BUT is it really worthwhile to make all your fighters stealth and live with the extra development, procurment and operation cost for decades, when you’re going to really need stealth only in first day of war missions which will represent 0,001% of the missions flown, if at all?

It’s much more cost effective to procure a few hundreds of scalp/storm shadow and stand off weapons like aasm, and work on a stealth ucav for the very hairy stuff should the need arise..

B-2 never met its specification requirements. That is why only 21 were built. And B-2’s failure played a role in F-23’s loss to F-22.

The new bomber will have requirements that are much tougher than B-2. Fortunately, the industry’s technological advances are up to the task.

Because the USaF thought the design goals set by norhtrop for the YF 23 were too ambitious and not attainable at reasonable cost? Or is it something else?

Beyond that, technology transfer means brazil can integrate R-darter or a-darter, and whatever variety of local made a to g weapons. Even old peruvian Mirage 2000 could use israeli LGBs for instance.
