I’m sorry but all this “chain of logistics” BS is starting to be annoying. What does it change if your neighbour is operating F16s? You plan on asking them pieces when you run out of them? If that’s how it work, why have fighter planes at all?

Besides, the F1 is one of the easiest things to get & keep in the air. I doubt the logistics footprint would be all that nightmarish, especially if you don’t operate another fighter anyway.

Maybe Russia wants the chinese to have access to certain technologies, and the Su35 order is a way for Russia to deny selling technologies to China.

When the US get angry, Russia can say: “well it’s not our fault we never sold them the technology! They stole it from us!”.

The payment for the access to these technologies may come in another part of the “inter-government agreement”.

If you look at the victories list on ACIG.org, Mirage F1 shot down 7 F4E & 2 RF4E, while the F4E shot down 3 Mirage F1 EQ.

I wonder how accurate those lists may be, but I feel that with only 4 Mica missiles the Mirage F1 would still be a very good high altitude interceptor.

The biggest beneficiaries were probably the people of Greece, BTW. They got rid of a brutal dictatorship (what’s the point of a military dictatorship which can’t even win a war?), & to stabilise their new democracy got fast-tracked into the EU , which then threw money at them for 30 years.

They sure do look like “beneficiaries” these days…
