What did you expect ?
It’s daytime TV – only for the mindless
I agree about East Kirkby
Any future permanent additions to East Kirkby have to be linked to WW2 Bomber Command.
East Kirkby is Bomber Command focused (being an old Lanc base) with a restoration project there for a Hampden as well as the resident Just Jane.
Why not boost East Fortune by getting a prize exhibit ?
“I am getting bored of the same P-51’s” ???
Can’t quite believe this comment. I went to Flying Legends for the first time in 2002 and was hooked, in part due to the magnificent Mustang display at the end of the show.
Possibly we should appreciate what we’ve got a little more ?
Totally agree with Duxfordhawk.
After the tragedy of the Firefly at Legends, I’m just happy to everyone walked away from the incident.
Well it had enough substance to be reported by at least two aviation publications !
If it’s a wind up, a lot of people have fallen for it !!
Robbo, you missed out ” will it ever fly again ?”
If it’s not strung up from the ceiling, I’m sure that argument will surface.
One for Ashley I think !!!
But absolutely bang on !
Interesting idea about cockpit sections.
Why not replicate (so you don’t damage originals, before anyone jumps up and down) a full size spitfire or hurricane cockpit section. Surely it will mean more to future generations if they can feel what it was like to be in a Spit, especially if the view outside is of a suitable diorama !
Just a thought !
I’d try to avoid a Hendon type display if possible. i.e. aircraft simply lined up behind barriers in an antiseptic way.
The American Air Museum is better than most in that you can mingle with the planes for a really close up view.
Having travelled around a number of museums with two young children, I know that the museums which catch their imagination are those that are more interactive. I think we tend to forget on this forum that a lot of people who visit Duxford know very little about the aircraft. If the aircraft can be displayed imaginatively, possibly in examples of wartime situations, it all helps educate visitors about the importance of the aircraft.
In short, make it interesting !
How about one of the Tempests being rebuilt in Lincolnshire ?
That, plus the P38 from the USA and the fleet air arm’s Sea Fury, would be quite impressive at Legends !
I’m a optimist (can you tell ?)
Me too !!
Happy with either Cosford or Coventry.
Regards,
Andrew
Yes, well done Ashley – an excellent day !
I hope that more will be added.
The fact that Duxford’s list was marked ‘provisional’ when it was emailed through makes me optimistic that more will be added, although we are cutting it a bit fine since there’s only a week and a half to go !
