    …The RAF VC-10 is making its last public appearance and on Monday will depart for St.Athan to be scrapped 🙁

    What a shame. Pity it couldn’t go to Brunty instead.

    Is that a possible four ship Hunter flying display then?

    Just received confirmation that Bruntingthorpe will open its doors to the public for an ‘in-steam’ open day on Sunday, August 28th.

    The NOTAM lists her but who knows…
    Think it states 16 (4×4) F15’s and 2xP51 and single B17

    The Sally B website lists her as

    30 Mon Madingley – US Military Cemetery Memorial flypast at 1200

    But who knows…

    The show was really influenced by the very strong winds. Credit to those who flew today, as it was far from ideal for flying.

    Superb flying today, many thanks to those concerned.
    I rather enjoyed the mini-Legends at the end, who were piloting the Spitfire trio and the Hurricanes?

    Is there still a possibility that the Sea Fury (and the Sea Hawk?) will be there tomorrow (weather permitting)?

    While on a railtour in the south-east I came across a scrap yard full of Phantom II’s. I would be interested to know where this was and to see some photos.

    Such a shame to see the destruction of yet another historic site. Would “they” be allowed to build on the site of the Battle of Hastings?

    I have fond memories of the Great Warbirds Airdisplays at West Malling. Always a fine mixture of aircraft.

    My “local” is North Weald and I will do what I can to save it for the future.

    Are those C-54s being left to rot outside North Weald? They’ve not moved for at least 18 months. A shocking waste!

    Great photos.

    Shame the C-54’s could not have some TLC from time to time.

    The odd engine run-up, tires kicked etc. The Perspex covered up.

    They would be worth more.

    Hope they don’t end up like the B-25…

    Channel 4 this morning had a programme about the air racing championships from Kemble.Hungary and Reno. I didn’t realise it was on…l.

    Waited ages to see another programme on “Normal” TV about air-racing and I missed it! 😡
