Two photos from the ‘Lotys II’ period, with and without invasion stripes. This scheme was applied pretty soon after arriving in Holland. During the ferry flight she was still in her previous grey/green scheme with the name ‘Cochise’ on her nose. As such she spent quite some time parked at Baton Rouge, Lousiana, and before that the story gets muddy!
So who has some old slides that he/she took Stateside showing this aircraft???
Good to hear that she is staying in Europe, she’s been for sale for quite some time now!
Will the new owner keep her in the same colours?
(Seen here at La Ferte in 1993 in formation with N320SQ)
Here is a Scottish Beech18 used by Loganair but now in the Museum of Flight at East Fortune
Thanks for the reminder! I knew I had another Beech photo hidden away somewhere! 😉
Four pages already, and all about an empty container! Sad really…. 😉 😀
(I must admit though that the Stirling bits were interesting!)
I can confirm that they do have a mixture lever, just like any other piston single. The Diamond with its FADEC controlled engines is the one which dispensed with the prop and mixture lever. That may have confused the earlier poster.
It did, thanks for clearing that up! 😎
Fascinating shots Robert!
It might be worth replacing the two largest ones with these resized versions though. Saves people having to scroll the page from right to left 😉
great stuff thanks- keep em coming (what a horrible scheme on F-AZEJ) our old spares ship now at the Aviodome (G-BKRG) has the same colours – yuk!
You mean this one TT?
Second one is the ex-DDA example now marked as G-29.
Edited to add two more, is it just me or does a nosewheel just look wrong on a Beech? 😎
#3 is N26035 seen at Fort Pierce, FL, #4 is N136L which was seen at Sebastian, FL in 2002.
Regarding the Photo of Carolyn Grace and her Spitfire,i daresay if someone is looking down they would be VERY proud. It is a very reflective and poigniant photo,i like the reflections in the pilots visor photo as well.
It made me think of this photo, taken by Shorty01 and posted in this thread:
He could also try to get in touch with these guys: http://www.avionvideo.com/
Very interesting photos Mark12!
Getting back to the White Cat, here she is landing at Zoersel in 1993 or thereabouts.
PH-PBY in its previous colourscheme
When she first appeared, she was flown under her Canadian registration. Later on the registration PH-PBY was applied and some small changes were made: blisters installed, rudder painted orange.
Let’s mail the webmaster about that shall we?? 😀 😀
Yes, PH-NFM on display at the Hague in 1955. One of the Schreiner ‘Target Towing’ Spitfires.
Shouldn’t that be PH-NFN?
Great photo! Septic and Swiss Mustangs beat me to the answer.
Next to the book ‘Spitfires – A Technical Study’ there is also a smaller one (same authors) which lists all the details of the Dutch Spitfires. Not many photos and the quality isn’t all that much but worth having all the same.
Ian, congratulations on your new position! Now that’s a way to start the new year. All the best!
