It’s a good compromise I think. Stephen Fry is right that it would give a lot of problems in the states. I’d rather see the film made with “Digger” instead of “nigger”, then not at all.
Maybe some people will get inspired by the movie or at least get to know some history!
Sometimes language changes over time. Another example is the word gay. I’m feeling gay today doesn’t mean what it used to mean!
