RE: KLM orders two Boeing 777

I heard they talked about A330 to pressure Boeing to get better prices.

A few months back I talked with a KLM instructor who told me there was no future plans to buy Airbus but I well may be wrong.

    RE: Your Favorite Jet Airliner

I saw a very interesting French TV program on Tupolev’s crash.

The end story was that the Concorde had problems flying while the Tupolev didn’t and so the French wanted to have a closer look at the Tupolev during flight time.

This is what they sent a spy Mirage. Obviously they were not gonna tell the Soviets “Hey we’re sending a Mirage to take spy shots of your plane”.

Unfortunately the Mirage got to close, the rest has been said here.

    RE: What about the destination

    Guns and airplanes don’t mix.

This is why (in Europe at least) not even security professionals (like policemen, bodyguards, etc.) have to give their gun unloaded to the captain.

Some kind of gas based weapon could well be an option I believe.

    RE: pets on board

    Yes indeed.

Coming back to the pet topic, I was thinking in some sort of solution.
Like which plane could allow the owners to see their pets during flights and I’ve come to two conclusions (I would love to hear opinions on this):

    1) The 747 Combi with a special pet pallet just behind the cabin, although I suppose owners should be “supervised” to avoid them touching the rest of the cargo.

    2) The A330 or A340 with an adapted “LCR” container (is LCR the correct name of the crew room?) for pets.

Obviously this could only be on transatlantic flights and would not be very economically interesting for the airlines. I’m just thinking of the animals.

By the way, do you know http://www.companionair.com ?

I may have misunderstood what you meant. Sorry.

Yellow and blue, yellow and blue… Do you mean Buzz. Just kidding, although it is not such a bad livery… if they had new planes to put it on.

    RE: Good news indeed!

I prefer Embraer but I have handled flights from Air Littoral (CRJ user) and LOT (ERJ user) and I find the CRJ being more comfortable.

In a LOT flight there was once a FA that must have had the airplane built around her.

Although I like very much the new ERJ170 and this may be better than the CRJ.

I heard KLM wanted to merge Buzz with Basiq Air… or was it Transavia (the same if you ask me or is Basiq Air the low cost arm of Transavia which is the low cost arm of KLM ?).

RE: A new fresh alliance would be nice

I was talking about an alliance that would be nice to my eyes.

I have worked for Spanair, BMI, SAS and now Lufthansa, so believe me, I have nothing against Star Alliance apart that it being too big now.

And yes Swiss seems to be wanting to enter OneWorld and SAA could be joining an alliance soon although I doubt it is SkyTeam.

And about JAL, I really think they should also enter an alliance although if I’m correct, JAL has very strong biz links with AirFrance so I see them more in SkyTeam than in OneWorld.

I took Wings as an example because I am very fond of KLM (yes, I worked for them too) and this was just to imagine which could a fourth interesting alternative. Anyway, thank you all for discussing this although some seem more interested in space beds (just kidding).

This is really a problem for pet lovers.

My wife and I are not moving to Mexico (we live in Spain) because I work in the airline industry and there is no way I am gonna put my three dogs in a hold.

I’ve seen too many “accidents”, thank you.

The last ressource is wearing sunglasses and having a doctor friend which makes a certificate you’re blind and then the dog will go with you.
Shame to have to think this way.

I, for one, think the new livery is so much nicer than the old one.
Actually it is one of my favourite liveries is JAL’s and Cathay’s.

    RE: Airline Names

Mine would also be a one class airline, long haul, and its name woulb OneClass (yes, I know very original…).

It would be based in Malaga (Spain) and would use 747 Combi.

RE: Do you think travllers really care who they travel with ?

    Of course people care.
Or so you should after flying with Air India.
    The worst experience possible…
