From MAN’s tweet:
“@redsmartie_ no you just have to pay for the car regardless of how many people in it!

They way to think about is to hit back in the best possible way and buy the season tickets! You’d be effectively depriving them of money i.e 3 times 3 hour visits = £27 (or 4 2 hour visits = £24, £8 1 hour visits = £24 and 2 3 hour+ visits = £24) whereas it appears we can still get 25 visits of unlimited duration for £25 (or £22.50 being TAS members!) with I believe no restriction on the duration of the ticket.
It’s also been confirmed that doesn’t matter about passengers in the car.
As for cars anyway, I’ll stick to my tried and trusted 200 service from the airport (and it is running throughout the week now). Could do with it starting around 0815 and the last service being around 1825 though.
Update to story – may have been dead for up to 12 hours?!
This is what happens when you read the Daily Mail!!
Seeing that they have had the info from the FR Head of Communications, perhaps we ought to take it a bit more seriously? As for this seats issue, we have:
But before the airline can begin charging, McNamara said, it will need to work with Boeing to reconfigure its aircraft.
There may well be an annoucement shortly that could be of interest to you!
Only mentioned LHR as they’re starting a 5th daily service to EWR with a 757 around that time.
Not to mention the thousands of A320s and 737s sold. Airlines are still ordering planes, so you can’t blame the economic climate for the state of the A380s order book.
You’re right about airlines ordering planes still. Only the other week I believe Air Berlin ordered -10 of the 787. Don’t recollect too many passenger orders being cancelled for the A380 -a few deferrals yes but not cancellations. The B748i hasn’t exactly been setting the world alight either….makes me wonder whether Boeing has wisely spent money developing the B748 as there were no real challengers to the B744F programme.
They can still do 3 daily flights. Remember the smallest equipment they have is the A330. It would be possible for them to do another increase in available capacity by going for an A330, A380 and 773 scenario with the 773 also having a 1st class cabin with Capacities roughly 285+517+354 respectively which would be further 400 seats a day (assuming they use the A330 as a 2 class aircraft). But I’m sure that any based line engineers wouldn’t welcome 3 aircaft types to service.
And in case anyone’s wondering, I believe they have no fewer than 7 seating configurations for the 773s: 4 are 3-class ranging from 354 seats to 380 seats and 3 are 2-class ranging from 427 seats to 442 seats.
They’ve currently got 2 varieties of 3 class A380s – one with 489 seats and 1 with 517 seats. The 2 class variety has yet to be delivered but I hope that there will be sufficient F and J sales out of MAN so it will not result in that aircraft usurping the 3 class aircraft, as that will put paid to getting a 3rd daily flight for about 3 years minimum.
Well I suppose that if we are to believe Unite, there are now (time 1530) 140 BA aircraft parked up at LHR, in addition to the 20 at CWL and 20 at SNN. OF which we know that aren’t 20 aircraft at CWL (only 5 in maintenance & 2 stored) and have seen reports that there are zero in SNN. But the 5 aircraft at EDI have not been mentioned by them!?! Which begs the question of why bother to believe anything that union is putting out?
EI-DAN has been operating LGW-MAN
EI-DHP has been operating LGW-GLA
EI-DHR has been operating LGW-EDI
LTN’s handled 777s and 747s before. Don’t think it will be too much of a problem.
Anyway, I see it as good news because the more bad news and f**k-ups this airline makes, the more the public will become cautious about using them. 😀
Err?? Surely mistyping digits can happen to any pilot on any airline. To try and single that out as a reason not to fly EK is bizarre. After all, have we not had in the UK an airline whose pilots inadvertently shut down the wrong engine which caused almost 50 deaths – no one said, “I’m not flying British Midland any more – their pilots don’t know their left from their right!”
Plus if EK “folds” due to passengers losing confidence in them and refusing to fly on them, I daresay both Boeing and Airbus will be hit financially with the current and future sales of large aircraft that they will lose out on. And I wouldn’t have thought this would be good for the industry?!
Oh, yes! We used to get a Cv990 every Saturday afternoon.
Ah, no wonder I never saw one on the ground. I was going on the wrong day. Let’s have some photos of the “old” freight apron to the left of Pier A, where the biggest aircaft I saw there was a Flying Tigers DC8.
Your Spantax DC9 is very much an Aviaco DC9. DOn’t think Spantax made that many daytime visits (perhaps my memories are fading?).
