Also, once he’d made his errors-landing too deep into the runway, ramming open the throttles causing the rich cut etc-Pullan just ‘froze’, making no attempt to rectify the situation in any way; clearly an indication of brain-fade. Can you imagine being John Romain, trying to claw the guys hand off the throttles?

I have to agree- too often you get all the ‘never mind, no one was hurt’ comments at the supposed exclusion of any other comment, and while it IS above all brilliant that no one was hurt, the fact remains that the aircraft was flown with at the very best, a suspected fuel problem; surely to goodness, the Blenheim team above all others should have played safe and stayed on the ground at that point?

I’m not saying that John Dibbs is now in the same category as Roy Pullan-far, far from it-but clearly, an error of judegement WAS made, that has now seriously damaged the aircraft, when it could have been avoided.

    I’ll run and hide now!

Looking good, and great to think the the three V-bombers will be together; also great to think of the space that will be freed up in the Bomber Hall at Hendon, although, no doubt S-Sugar will have to be shunted around/part-dismantled yet again to get it out…

Hmm, lots of views of this thread, but barely any replies; ‘pilot error’ is a strong phrase to use, but surely, if fuel was at all in doubt, you’d have run weak to increase your chances?

It goes by the name ‘Night Bombers’ and is usually available somewhere or other on tape. The take off sequence-shot from an already airborne aircraft flying beside the Lanc during it’s run-is superb.

It’s not the only colour film of Bomber Command though-there’s colour footage of a WW2 Conningsby Lanc, too.

LOL @ all the different marks etc etc!

Thanks all for the help-I’ve just found myself a pic of the Hendon BoB one (Like, D’oh, of course!) which together with what’s here, (The size and res is fine on here for what I want) should be more than enough to do what I want.

Any more pics gratefully received, but otherwise, thanks again guys!

Mike, the man of the Lanc.

LOL, nice pics, nice surprise to see the two PA474 shots there too.

After everything else that’s been done over the years, I wish EK would sort out their iffy looking mid-upper turret!

Still, the list of attractions there never ceases to end; “Roll up, roll up, come and p**s on our Lancaster!” 😀

Sounds good, although it’s presented and narrated by Jeremy Clarkson,so who knows!

Nothing wrong with Jezza-his program on Brunel for the ‘Great Britons’ thing a while back was superb.

Cain is Jezza’s father in law, and he writes a very good piece about all this in the current Radio Times; he points out that these days, people call muppets like Beckham a hero just for scoring a goal in stupid football; he says he’s proud to be related to a REAL hero.

    Good on him, I say.

I’ve started to give up on the half hour slot Channel 5 ‘documentaries; by the time you’ve had three ad breaks, you get about 20 mins of actual program!

Hmm, that’s one of them Must-Hangs, innit?!

That is just the cutest damn kiddy I ever did see-almost makes me want to have a kid of my own, just so I can dress them in a little flying jacket too!

    Almost.

    Nice pics mate!

Well, I’ve been known to occasionally build the odd daft large ‘model’ project from time to time; a full sized ‘Tardis’ Police Box in my garden, I restored a Relinat three-wheeler into Only Fools & Horses regalia, built a 90% complete Lancaster control panel once, stuff like that!

I was toying-and only toying at the moment-with the idea of doing a full sized, sit in it and in and have some fun, Spit cockpit. Hence the need for nice drawings of the fuselage frames from that area! (Panel to rear of seat, I guess.)
