Mush as I love Hendon-it was my first aviation museum, and of course it’s the home of the MIGHTY-if craply displayed-Lancaster R5868-it does strike me that the airframes locked in there seem extra-added DEAD, for some reason. 🙁
Deleting threads? Hmm, VERY poor form! 🙁
For me, the difference in airshow enjoyment bewteen the Victor and the Vulcan is plain; when the Victor flies overhead, my pants don’t fall down! 😉
Don’t worry Phil, I agree with your views completely!
“…streaking across a viaduct painted like a tin of beans…” 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Hmmm…you think too much, you know that?!!! 😉
Cheers to y’all! 😀
Great, thanks, I missed this one first time around.
Apparently Discovery are doing a documentary this year where they attempt to rebuild and test the dams bouncing bomb, anyone know anything about this one?
Years ago I engaged in some lively correspondence with the curator of the Lambeth IWM, re. the apparent pounding their utterly priceless original Halifax nose section gets from Joe Public thumping through it all day every day, and I was more or less told to go and mind my own business…
…that’s the last time I stand up for a Halifax!!! 🙁
Hallelujah!!!
No problem, thanks!
For Pete’s sake, I’m NOT ‘degrading other aircraft’!!!
I’m with those that can’t decide-on the whole, Germany had a LOT of bloody good planes during WW2!
Ah, but I HAVEN’T criticised the Dak itself- just, in my opinion, it’s place in the BBMF!
Lancman hearby states for the record and to appease his online aviation friends that as an aircraft in general, he thinks the Dakota rocks, and he’d happily have it’s babies!!!
LOL about the Mustang!!! 😀
Given the stated length of BBMF service, one can only assume that ‘Fluffy’ is either Chief Tech Keith Brenchley, or Chief Tech Paul Blackah? Anyone?
Everyone sems to be having a go at me as if I don’t of course realise what a historically significant aircraft the Dak is-of COURSE I know this, okay?! I personally just don’t think that a primarily American aircraft fits in that well with a Royal Air Force, WW2 Memorial Flight, okay?!
Wish I’d never bloody mentioned it now!!! 😡
…oh by the way ‘Fluffy’, if you’ve worked on the Flight’s aircraft for about 9 years, your name should actually be Paul then?! 🙂
“As one of ‘Day’s team’, as you call it…”
Yet AGAIN today, people prove themselves incapable of reading what was written; that was from the article I copied and pasted, NOT written by me!!!
Futhermore, I personally was not criticising the name of the Flight, but pointing out that many people in general public land do-again, all here for you to read.
I’ll finish by saying this-it’s been widely reported and commented on over the years that the Dakota is not all the Flight hoped for. If that’s genuiniely NOT the case, then there’s been an awful lot of misinformation going around for an awful long time, from an awful lot of sources, which includes several respected aviation publications, associations, going right up to members of the Flight itself, both in print and in person.
Now, where were we? Oh yes, nice paint job…:p
