LOL, I knew what this thread was going to be about even as I clicked on it!
And who will pay the insurance?
Yay!
Another vote here for the B-17, based purely on an opinion on the tonnage the thing could (or in this case, couldn’t) carry.
‘We can fly a Flying Fortress up to thirty thousand feet
We can fly a Flying Fortress up to thirty thousand feet
We can fly a Flying Fortress up to thirty thousand feet
But we only carry a teeny-weeny bomb!
Glory, glory shall we drop it?
Glory, glory shall we drop it?
Glory, glory shall we drop it?
Shall we drop our teeny-weeny bomb’
(As sung throughout my childhood by my grandad, formerly ground crew of 149 Squadron)
Yes, an excellent set of pictures there, and nice to see the safety concerns raised, and taken, well.
Bravo!
LOL, very good!
But, would the Germans?
Agreed. Whereas it’s all nice and friendly on the surface now, there are a lot of deep and not always all that hidden resentments out there, and dropping The Bomber down into Berlin might not be the brightest of moves!
LOL, cheers Pete! Makes the difference, doesn’t it?
Lovely pictures! Thank heavens I have broadband now!
😀 @ HP57 and Tony C!
LOL @ you lot! 😀
Has anyone actually contacted EK, to ask about the difference in what some people seem to get from a taxi, for the same money?
I’d like to see Mike Chatterton posted back to BBMF- he used to fly PA474 beautifully!
Although it may sound good when presented to the Lottry people, I think this notion of restoring the Vulcan to flight for ‘educational’ purposes is a load of old rubbish. Yes, of course it has an important history etc, but let’s be totally honest here, we all just want it back up in the air for the sheer sight and sound of the thing, don’t we? Likewise, Little Johhny will go ‘Ooooh’ and possibly dampen his shorts at the magnificent sight, but he’s not going to give two hoots about any ‘educational value’!
I’ll second that nod for John Romanin and co. too, actually.
