    Wondering about Christen Eagle-

Trim tab in middle of rudder and two bracing wires per side.

    Terrible news.

Reports say a 2-seater, from the BBC image it looks like something vintage-ish, a biplane perhaps, with fabric covering.

    Acrosport perhaps ?

Sorry if I am butting in here out of turn, but I simply cannot contain myself a moment longer……

Nobody is reporting this ‘fast moving’ story with more zest and glee than the BBC itself.

Methinks that plenty of people within the organisation are pretty pleased to the disgraced duo hauled out for a public beasting, people who are paid vastly less, and with public profile minute in comparason -Schadenfreude at its very best.

String ’em up , I say!
It’s the only language they understand.

Really, what is all the fuss about, just a couple of light-hearted pranksters.

Sometimes it’s a curse to take such an even-handed view of the world;)

How about a compromise? Shoot them like the scurvy dogs they are.
Then give them a complete pardon

The age-old defense to suggestions of cynism is that it is actually realism. So, not original then, but I will say it nevertheless. I am neither ignorant of, or indifferent to the sacrifices of all the allied aircrew.

My personal feeling is that right now it is more important to commemorate the people than the hardware. Whilst there will be a time in the future to build a Typhoon memorial, I would suggest that both funding and enthusiasm will be hard to raise just at the moment.

I realise that if it is postponed for long, few if any of the vets would get to see it. This is a shame, but does not detract from the actual purpose and validity of such a memorial.

Whilst the underlying intention is laudable, the very fact that you think this is an appropriate way, and a good time to submit such a request casts serious doubts about your suitablity to oversee this project.

As you concede, it has liitle chance of being built (for ‘little’ read ‘zero’) which makes this just gesture politics and an thus a completely non-productive exercise.

Sorry to sound so negative, but thats how things are right now, and the same reality applies to the ‘Vulcan’ petition.

Forgive dredging this up, but this video has just been released, as well as the AIIB report, which gives some very useful thoughts about spinning and recovery.

It has to be said that the pilot kept a very cool head.

    Report is here.

    Hi ST.

Welcome to forum. Bit of a faux pas there , I’m afraid.

That Hurricane is one of the forum favourites, and we have many discussions here about how great it is that it still has the original 1940, Battle Of Britain dust on the airframe, so original ,such provenance.

If you are keen on cleaning aeroplanes, there is a bunch from here who regularly go to Old Warden (Shuttleworth) and all rub together. I am sure they would welcome a new member.
