Interesting to see it take off (can’t really say rotate ) in a level attitude, with the tail kept down.

For groundless uninformed specualtion, how about this- wind blowing a storm last weekend (it was) .Yak arrives at private strip, which has just one runway, and the wind is gusting, and mainly across the strip. Gusts dictate quite a fast approach, and with no into-wind slowing effect, and wet grass from recent rain, a/c fails to stop within runway length.

Are you going to taxi from Farnborough to Blackbushe? 15 mins seems a long time to go 5 miles;)

Unusual for the ‘rumour mill’ not to have picked up on anything significant of this nature, especially if whatever may or may not have happened ,happened in the public domain, say Headcorn or wherever. If on a private strip, only time will tell what transpired.

Was it to be a Legends attendee ? Fingers crossed for a happy outcome.

16.12 Catalina very low over Chesham, in the mother of all rainstorms, groping its way to duxford, at a guess.

    Enough ?

When can we finally expunge this subject of this completely irrelevant, utterly tedious politically-correct non-issue. Nothing to see here, move on please. Really.:(

    Welcome to the forum.

Sympathies with your sartorial anguish, but I suspect that they will let you in regardless. Personally, I favour the brown serge suit (with waistcoat) , a hi-viz bow tie, trilby, and leather brogues.

The more thorny question is ‘what does Farnborough have to offer the enthusiast these days?’ They very much trade on glories past, and my experience has been too much hassle, too much expense, too far from the public to the display line, and far too little of any originality or interest.

However, if you like crowds, standing in lines, and your favourite words are corporate and marketing, you will have a ball!

Saw three or four small helicopters and one big one in loose formation heading west near Bovingdon at 11.30.

Could be the Swiss lot, heading to Yeovilton perhaps?

This forum is about historic aircraft, which by no means excludes contemporary events, good or bad.

If the thread title includes reference to a crash, it should be indicated if the event was in the past. Furthermore, if ‘breaking news’ accident/incident is being reported, it is considerate to mention ‘no fatalities’ or similar, if this is the case, rather than just the alarming use of ‘crash’, which naturally will disturb many readers unneccessarily.

I think the R22 now tops the CAA statistics as the ‘crashiest’ type in the UK, a position previously held by the Cessna 150/152. Bloody learners!

The Jungmann was photographing the C47, hence the seemingly strange loitering at 1,500feet whilst the Dak ran in for a flypast, and a well judged dive to (briefly) bring them together long enough to bang off a few frames!

Says they had to be ‘cut from the wreckage’ , seems a drastic outcome for a landing with stuck gear!?

    AKI 1977,

Wecome to the forum. We have a great fund of knowledge here, and I have no doubt that people will do their best to help you in your search.

We can only imagine the terrible time which you and your family went through, and if you feel it appropriate, you could tell us the name of your brother, a fellow aviation enthusiast. This is a Historic forum, and the passage of time on no way diminishes the importance of past events.

A great enthusiast, and prolific author.

I hope that someone can rustle up some sort of a flypast, preferably historic, and give him a good send-off.
