    Spitfire Ace Music

    Hi mmitch;

    Thanks for the reply to my question… I read that earlier thread before posting, but this is a different piece of music. The puccini score was used at the end of program four when Pete Brothers was flying Carolyn’s Spitfire. The piece that I am trying to identify was used at the end of program three as Stephen Bungay was talking about Hugh Dowding.

    Many thanks;

    Steve.

    “Flying A” Razorback

    I was lucky enough to have a peek inside the container a few years back, I felt very privaliged to do so considering the secrecy that seems to surround Dave Arnolds stuff. Incredible to see this P-47 cowiling staring me in the face as the container doors were opened!!…plus a neat row of eight fifty calibre’s too !!

    Condition looked great back then, but that was a few years ago, so I can’t vouch for its current condition I’m afraid.

    It was quite saddening to think of such a beauty being cooped up in this container, when it should have been in one piece, and preferably in the air. I think that there was about eight or nine other containers there at the time, a few Spits, Mustangs and I think a P-40.

    Still I felt better after partaking in a bit of hangar flying in “Flying A’s” Spit IX, Wildcat and Hellcat that afternoon…

    I guess it will be a long time before any of these birds will feel the air beneath their wings again…

    Steve.

    Of course it’s MV293……

    Silly Arse…I knew that all along, but I was typing this from memory and couldn’t quite remember which way round it was.

    Well, if I had the cash…

    And Mr Grey were tempted enough by my imaginary wad of cash, then it would have to be Spitfire MkXIV MV268…..

    This has always been pretty much my favorite warbird on the UK scene. All Spitfires are the most beutiful aircraft ever created in my opinion, but there is something about that lowbacked, clipped winged, Griffon engined beauty that works for me. A real “hot rod”.

    Every year at Legends, this is the one aircraft that gets me jumping around like the kid from Empire of the Sun….”HORSEPOWER”…..

    Mind you, if I could obtain a type that doesn’t exist as such, then it would be a DeHavilland Hornet…..dream on Steve old chap…
