I became midly confused and bemused with the whole thing when I saw that the McCanns had gone to be blessed by the Pope, and had set up a website, charity, and merchandise, and had employed a publicist. A tad far/odd, don’t you think?
Great shots! I think the DC-10 is a strange looking aircraft when you get up close to it. :diablo: :diablo: :diablo: the MD11 is a much better looking aircraft.
Great shots! Did the sirens from the party annoy you at all? They were on and off all afternoon!
I don’t quite know what to say. You have surpassed yourself, Dan. You’re also incredibly lucky! The shots from above MUC are spectacular! 🙂
Wow – your compositions and timings are fantastic! Amazing photos!
Great shots! Its nice to see photos from my old local, I really do like that airport. 🙂
Ace shots Paul! On a bright, sunny day, the green Flybe looks great! And the contrast between the white fuselage and deep blue sky on the Flybe close-up shot works really well! 🙂
“…well THAT was unexpected”. The S2 not good enough for you, eh?
Wow. Well done on the purchase, and welcome to the DSLR world. Fun much have you will, my friend. 😀
You could always send yourself to Memphis as a package by Fedex from Manchester…… 😎
Or you can join what I can only assume would be crates of Vodka with Aeroflot from the same airport and on a DC-10.
East Midlands sees a few MD11s (Lufthansa Cargo, primarily).
On the passenger side of things, your ‘options’ are few and far between nowadays. I guess your best option in the UK would be Gatwick or Manchester (i.e. an airport that sees a big charter market). MYT leased both an MD-11 and DC-10 in July to replace one of their A330s which was a little ill.
fantastic photos Robert! The colour and lighting really is very nice! 🙂
I’m not bored, but did it anyway.
Interestingly, I found a series of photos taken at Manchester Airport on the 13 July 1987.
Interesting because it just happens to be the airport that I work at now. I think some of the photos were even taken from the very same building that I work in (tower block/control tower). Coincidence? I think not…

The shop is in Terminal 1 arrivals (I think). I looked in its window yesterday, but I’m still not certain where I was in the terminal (still getting used to the layout, lol).
What a fantastic article!
So, an A380 collided with a building near the Bangkok airport, and then a coach pulled up and parked nearby…
Apparently, the Bangkok airport has suffered from a series of zigzags, since being rasied nearly 50 years ago.
The quieter this story remains the better I think. Just the sort of the thing that will allow the media to bring about the idea that the aircraft is too big to be operated safely at the worlds airports.
Awesome shots Alex! The A340 shots are the best – its the only aircraft type that I wish would come to Manchester!
You have no idea how much I hate my cars clutch right now. It has a fascination with the floor of my car at the moment, cos thats where it stayed when I tried to get to the airport.
The shots are amazing, Paul. I love them all. Manchester is definately most interesting early morning!
