Adam… You’ve just reminded me I need a trip to London with my camera for a bit of shooting around the city! You’ve also proved the quality from point and shoot cameras these days can be superb!
With regard to the polarising filter, you’ll probably see the most dramatic benefit when the skies are either clear or when the cloud is patchy but the sky is still blue and there isn’t a lot of haze. Did you order the IR Filter in the end?
Paul
thanks Paul. Yep, I ordered the IR filter, and it was dispatched today from Germany, so may get it by the end of the week. I can’t wait. Did you buy yours? 🙂
Here are a few photos from a visit to London, made yesterday, taken with a Canon ixus camera

‘Tis been a while since I posted on here, so here are three shots taken today at Beacon Hill just outisde Loughborough. They are also my first shots taken using the RAW format and processed in Bibble, and I also took my new Polarising filter out for a whiz, this is what i came up with
spot the steam train on, I think, the Great Central Railway

They would have got better from a BLUE PETER COMP so at least they would not have wasted so much money ?? 😮
No, that wouldn’t work. They’d have a technical problem and muck up the phone-in, and then they’ll have to fake the results. :diablo:

Is it just as simple as sticking a filter on the front? I’ve been interested in the idea of IR photography for a while so if all you need is a filter, I need to get one!
Paul
Yep, it is. Need to play around with exposure compensation in camera and have a tripod. All it then needs is a little bit of editing in photoshop – apparently something to do with white balance.
Thanks Dean! I tried it and it worked, so all I need to do now is find a shop that has a Hoya 62mm flter in stock – all the ones that I have tried don’t have them in stock:mad: !
Ramp to pilot: “I told you to plover! You were doing 40 in a 30 zone – I need to see your license, sonny”
or
Pilot to ramp: “Oh! Pull over! I thought you were calling me name, officer – plover, thats me name see! I ain’t drinking whilst driving – honest! Look, its orange juice from the galley”
From reading the thread, I got the impression that I was going to see major changes to the design of the mag – picked it up this morning, and it took me a while to notice anything different. I still like the magazine though 🙂
wow! looks like you both had a cool time! 🙂 very cool shots from the flight deck! 🙂
Nice to see you back Andy! Superb shots for your comeback! Your 777 and A340 shots do the aircraft justice. 🙂
