She is now back in the UK, currently sitting at NEMA. She arrived in the early hours having been delayed at her departure point because she went tech.
Thanks for the map 🙂
I assume the lines are walking routes from your description.
Where do you usually park up? Airport parking or just laybys/roads?
I guess though if the An225 does land today/tomorrow the place will be heaving?!Smell shouldn’t be a problem – I work for a company that builds sewage works! :p
Andrew
We poor students cant afford our own private transport (apart from a bicycle 😀 ), and being around 8 miles from the airport at Loughborough Uni, we get the airport shuttle which runs from the town to the airport.
the latest news as to the arrival of the 225, is a 2.45am arrival, so i shouldnt think the place will be heaving :p
thanks!
best to explain with the help of google

the red lines mark where we go. the line by the end of rwy 27 is on the airport trail which can be joined at the roundabout. the spot parallel to the rwy is on a mound infront of the taxiway and can be reached by going on the airport trail and then backtracking along the perimeter fence.
its not an easy, short walk from the roundabout to the places – its through an uneven field that at one point does not smell appealing at all – open sewer type thing (enough said).
but, once you reach the spots, you get some great photo opportunities, including waves from passengers and pilots as they taxi infront of you. we’ve even had a middle finger from one easyjet passenger. 🙁
sounds really interesting Luke, glad you’re enjoying it!
I’m a week and a half into my 2nd year at Loughborough University doing Air Transport Management BSc. Unlike other courses, the modules arent so specific or ‘practical’ like Meteorology and Ticketing and they are much more management based. My modules are:
Transport Planning
Economics of Transport
Business Strategy and Policy for Transport (sounds boring, but is really interesting) I bought a £40 book for the module today, which will sure be an entertaining light read of around 1100 pages (but dont let that put anyone off doing the course – i certainly wont be reading it all, lol)
Project Appraisal (plain boring and too much maths, imo)
Management Science (scary way of saying Operations Research, made entertaining by a funny lecturer)
Transport Risk and Safety
On the whole, it is really great fun.
Heading off to NEMA tommorow (again 😀 ) with a couple of friends to catch the An-225.
I had a principles of flight type module last year, and I believe that ‘airline marketing and management’ comes in semester 2.
Throughout last year i attended talks from a BA long haul pilot (through the Uni’s flying club), a BAe test pilot (was first person to fly the Hawk), and an RAF Harrier pilot who had had some time in Afghanistan (but that talk was through another Uni department). Ive also got up close to the ‘EAP’ aircraft which is sitting in aero department (was a one off BAE experimental aircraft, precursor to the Eurofighter Typhoon programme).
In other words, University is a must-do, life experience.
Shouldn’t you have been doing studenty-type work instead of wasting time?
Paul
yeah, probably. :p 😀

Do you think so
to be fair, that article was published more than 7 years ago.
A friend of mine recently travelled on the London – Kuala Lumpur route, as well as Malaysian domestic flights and was happy to say that the experience was great.
wonderful shots Si, but that last flybe ERj shot is just something else. absolutely stunning 🙂
You’ve more chance of the Pope turning Muslim than getting a cheque from ADB 😀 😀
Nice pictures of my Bird 008 Adam 😉 Wait for 225 next week 😮
A225HVY
Is the AN225 turning up at NEMA then?
thanks for the comments guys! 🙂
Tell me about it 🙁
Are Antonov paying you for that free advertisment you put up 😉
Cracking pics anyway, well done
The cheque is arriving in a couple of months. 😉 :p
Interesting that there is an ERJ190 there, and fancy that with bmi’s HQ being only 2 mins away!!! How long did it stay? Have you not got any lectures to be getting on with, or were you rebelling against everything Lboro stands for and avoiding sports afternoon? LOL
The ERJ was nightstopping there for a day doing a local flight today and departing later.
As for the lectures, I have just 12 hours a week. Today for example, Ive had a single one hour lecture. And thats it. Ahhh, this is the life. 😀 :diablo: :p
Makes me feel really sorry for the engineering students that have really busy timetables.
😀
Brillaint pictures Adam I take it thats the RR Spitfire and is based at NEMA?
James
tbh, i don’t know. Although it is the second time i have seen that very Spitfire land at NEMA, so i guess it could be based at the airport.

thanks!
haven’t posted for a while – been taking shots of REAL planes lately. hehe
here are shots from recent multiplayer flights that i have done with a friend,

thanks
