4 During the ‘soccer war’ of 1969 between Honduras and El Salvador. One Hondurian pilot called Soto used his Corsair F-4U to shot down three Corsair FG-1D from El Salvador.

Honduran Pilot, Capt.Soto, only shot down 2 FG-1D.

    Saludos.

Interesting thread. Dubya you missed El Salvador’s speculation 🙂 , i would like to hear some as for the Central American region. Where do you guys think that these countries should point when it comes to buying aircraft?

    Yes, that was the intention.

Anyone knows about jet combat aircraft offered to El Salvador?

The last FAS Ouragan flew from Comalapa to Ilopango in 1989, as you said, it was tail number 709 flown by actual FAS Commander, Col. Salvador Palacios.
Here are some photos of FAS 706 and 714 back in the year of 2001, when they were being brought back to flying condition. After the FAS brought two Fouga CM-170 Magisters back to the air, they started working on these two Ouragan. Sadly, after my fathers dead (FAS Commander 1999-2002) in one of the Fouga that were brought back to flying condition, the Ouragan project was suddenly stopped since the new FAS Commander didnt share his vision for the FAS.

Recently, a french guy has showed interest on buying a Ouragan to make it fly again.

The only wreckages at Ilopango AB are the UH-1Hs, the other aircraft were ‘trashed’ as you can see using Google Earth. The B-26 was added to the Museum static display and the other B-26 (cockpit) was used to make a Monument at Aviation Plaza.
