I would contact them but i cant find the contact form from their site since i dont understand hebrew š
Sorry for posting this a month after their arrival.
El Salvador’s Air Force received 3 Aravas (202) on December 20th, 2008 being their registries YS-07N (cn 104, ex IAF 205), YS-08N (cn 107, ex IAF 211) and YS-09N (cn 110, ex IAF 217).
I have uploaded the news here: http://www.flotilla-aerea.com/noticia/10/
You can find two hi-res photos here: http://www.flotilla-aerea.com/galeria/modelo/IAI%20202%20Arava/
And the video of their arrival š : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU4qPcOpCHk

Yes, they use both O-2A/B as FAC and the A-37B as FAC or interceptor, it always depends on how far the aircraft has been spotted.
Due to the Chicago Convetion from 1947, El Salvador Air Force cannot shoot down any aircraft that violates its air space so what they only do is escort them out of the territory.
Usually 1 or 2 interceptions are made each week.
This picture is of an aircraft intercepted some years ago, is the only one I have.

Was the Belgian air component really the last military user of the Magister?? What about Israel, El Salvador, Algeria, Morocco, Togo and Senegal, to name but a few?
El Salvador still has one Fouga Magister but it doesnt fly as only one engine works and there is no more in stock…
Wrong, wrong, wrong…!
The aircraft in the photo of the first post is a FAKE #220, the real identity was #207 but someone painted #220 instead…this Corsair was then removed from that location and transferred to Comalapa, dont remember the year, and an Ouragan was sent in its place. The place is ‘Teleferico de San Jacinto’, a cable ride that doesnt work anymore.
The last photo posted by RMAllnutt (FAH619, Jaldo?) was taken in Comalapa in the early 90s! and its the same FAKE #220 that was in ‘Teleferico de San Jacinto’ but received a paintjob, this Corsair was later sold in 1992 when it was the last Corsair in El Salvador š”
Mudmover, could you send me these and the other pictures (if available) to my email? Thanks!
Saludos.
Mondariz and Scorpion89, if the photo about the Invader was taken in the mid-90s then it should have been surrounded by Fouga Magisters and Ouragans, else (if surrounded by warbirds) it was taken in the mid-70s.
Is it possible to post the picture here?
Saludos.
Mondariz, thanks for taking the time to search the web. The info you post is shown at aeroflight.co.uk but is incomplete. In El Salvador there is a total of 6 1/2 Ouragans: #705 (cockpit only at Museum), #706 at Museum, #709 as monument, #713 at Museum, #714 armed for static display and #716 at Museum.
Ive seen some photos of the FAS Ouragan wearing their c/n° right before the tail numbers were assigned and Im trying to match em up.
supersioux, it looks like Yugoslavia produced the Hanriot 320 under license and those were the ones that ended up at El Salvador.
Do you know anyone from Yugoslavia that could help me?
Thanks.
Update from El Salvador, i took these pics a couple of weeks ago. The Turbo C-47 #116 is the only cargo aircraft in flying condition that the Salvadoran Air Force has.
I am participating in a thread about the Hanriot 320 at LAAHS and we had no luck with any additional information and thats why i came here…:(
