Don´t be happy at a country is eliminated. Well We have a saying over here. “don´t spit to the sky, it could come back to your face”. Sausage munchers?….well sorry guy, last night “tea drinkers” out, like “garlic eaters” (us), “spaguettini” (italians). Still using xenophobic labels to other countries in these days? 😡 All my favourites are out, so who should win?. Well, I go for our neighbours, Portugal or France

I don´t know if they fly to the UK. No schedule services of these airline, only a simbolic Albacete-Palma in Spanish domestic market. They operate B737 and some B757. It´s a tiny and quiet airline founded by Mario Hidalgo, relative of the owner of Air Europa, and former CEO of Air Europa Express.

It was really welcoming as usual, but pretty scary and dangerous at all time. Even driving was dangerous. Although the economic situation is improving life seems too hard to most people Prices are ridiculous for us.

You are probably right. Barcelona, Valencia and Palma are already packed with Low cost. In Spain there are 40 airports with big potentialities and a domestic market almost dominated by Iberia with high fares.

Sounds like the typical market research tactics by competitors. Low cost at full service? Virtually imposible.

When I last flew a Tupolev was on a CSA TU154 and it looked odd inside. No racks, strange seats, old fashioned interiors, but this time once inside it was hard to say one was travelling on a Tupolev. On the contrary, it was so smooth and the noise of the engines was the typical Rolls Royce whispering sounds. Racks were a bit smaller, but that gave the plane a widder look and sensation. Lots of open spaces, hugggeeeee pitch and spacious toilets. Really nice. It was a pity I wasn´t allow to get into the cockpit.

Well, hard to say. Only the ones I felt particularly scared like Cubana on Antonov26 with no windows in the middle of a storm at night. Apalling indeed.

    More ETOPS at MAD

Madrid is the Queen for Sudamerica connections. Most of them ETOPS planes. This one as I boarded my flight.

LH one. Maintained by Lufthansa Technik and still with its former classes arrangements. The other one operated by Iberia is a B747-300 which belonged to Iberia (in fact Air Atlanta) and also with IB configuration. Grand Class and Confort one appart from coach. Only 250 euros supplement for longhaul in Confort and 500 on Grand (sleepers).

How we feel?. well, we wonder…why us so much?. Suddenly we have become the Axil of Evil?……We were supposed to be given a time to deploy the troops before attacking again until june and now they have plans again for fresh attacks. So, I think our troops in Iraq and Afganistan is an excuse. France don´t have support war and is in the target, german tourists were killed in tunisia and many other foreigners were killed in all the world. The target is the whole West. Some muslims simple can´t simply accept our existence. Salafists argue that their duty is to destroy the West and the cristinanity. I opposed the war, I think it was a bad idea, and of course it made us to be attacked but I feel they could have found other excuse…..and now I don´t want to deploy anything. Not now. Only Spain decides their own external policy. Many people have been killed and we can´t simple do what they want. Spain was popular among arab countries because they feel we are lost brothers, and we still are. I think the huge activity in Spain is due to the presence of a huge arab community, a bad job of our CIA (CNI) to prevent this, and the easiness of the terrorists to get through our coasts in the Gibaltar Strait. Spanish people feel confused not affraid of terrorised. Alqaeda has found Spain as an easy place to establish their activities.

I am not sure if the worst accident, but not involving a single aircraft which was in Japan. Anyway, Los Rodeos Airport quite tricky indeed. Close to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and beside the old capital La Laguna is placed in the worst place possible in the island. Funny history. A german architect designed it but put crosses where it shouldn´t be built the airport. He had to return to germany and the local architects interpreted that the crosses meant…..possible sites, instead of NEVER. Well it´s in a flat hill, surrounded by mountains with heavy fogs. Clouds are over the runways so planes come from down the sea and there´s a small gap between the toll plain and the clouds. Sometimes the visual references are tricky. The main dangers appart the fog is an engine failure in low altitude. Despite a new airport was built is frecuently used by local Binter Airlines in islands connections, european charters, Spanish Sheduled (in fact close to the capital, so all non tourist Spaniards go there). Usually IB A340, B747 use the airport. Other remarkable accidents a Dan Air B727 crashed into mountains in 1982 and a Iberia Constellation quite a long time ago, crashed on the runway.
