Yes, agreed. But it’s still about market forces. If the product is poor and/or expensive, but people are still happy to pay for the privilege, why would it change?
Another quote: ‘yer pays yer money and takes yer choice!” 😉

Maybe some of the show operators and vendors OUGHT TO READ THESE,RIPOFF RIPOFF RIPOFF U.K
Unfortunately, I don’t think anything will be done to improve the rip-off mentality at UK airshows. It’s all about market forces, I suppose. There’s always huge queues at the burger vans and the like. People are still willing to pay those prices. 🙁
For me, a few sarnies, crisps and choccies usually do the trick.

It was ok once the swelling had gone down…

So difficult. Have so many favourites…
Here is one I’m quite fond of. No other particular reason. I took this one at Duxford circa 1993.

Now to throw a spanner in the works. The ‘blue note’ was only partly due to slipstream over the gun ports. It was also induction roar from the intakes especially when pulling up after a low pass such as a run and break
Probably similar to the induction howl on a race bike (e.g. ZX6R). Nice. 😉

Daz, that’s great! How long before you finish it?

Info from their web site:
To date, the Fw 189 Society has undertaken the vast majority of the pre-restoration work, ie removal of damaged skins, paint-stripped, treated and re-protected the Centre Section in our own workshop, overseen by Jim Pearce. Some structural parts of the restoration have been remanufactured by one of our specified sub-contractors Airframe Assemblies Ltd on the Isle of Wight and they are in the process of making the Jig. The wings, tailbooms, fins and tailplane are with Flug Werk GmbH in Munich and work is underway. The engines are with DeltAir Ltd in Hampshire and the overhaul is now complete. Authorisation has been given to overhaul the propellers and engine bearers and work is about to commence. (All our sub-contractors have Civil Aviation Authority approval).

I am also now inclined to think it was the Great Warbirds display in 1990. I’ve already had a trawl through my programmes. Couldn’t find it but found this poster instead. See below. It may be of some interest to some of you. If not, apologies…;)

Yes, I agree. Goodbye Mickey Mouse is a great novel, also by Deighton.

As far as Hollywood is concerned, a dollar-generating storyline will always take precedence over historical accuracy. We will have to wait and see…
