In theory, yes. That’s how the TELs carry the 9M96/9M96D (those being the native designators, not the export ones I used above for Favorit). One TEL could carry up to 16 of the smaller missiles. However, nothing recent has “officially” associated the 9M96 with the S-400. The Almaz website talks about the 48N6E2 and 48N6E3 for the export system, those being the 200-km 48N6D and 250-km (maybe 400) 48N6DM. They don’t mention the supposedly still secretive 40N6 or the 9M96. Were the 9M96 still an option, you’d have to figure that they’d mention it, as the weapon has been marketed for export for a while with Favorit. In fact, the latest Favorit brochure doesn’t mention the 9M96 either. If you ask me, it may well be a dead program insofar as strategic SAMs are concerned.

That’s a 5P85SM TEL, that one right there is actually at an old MAKS show demonstrating the Favorit complex (note the 4 pack of 9M96E/E2 tubes displacing a 48N6E2 tube). Given that they’ve moved beyond the MAZ-543M chassis for the radar vehicle, I doubt we’ll see any more MAZ-543Ms used by the S-400 TELs. MilParade had an 8×8 MAZ-543M labeled “S-400 mobile TEL” once, but it’s not that one; it had a much different antenna on the end of the mast for talking with the engagement radar in lieu of the F-3 cabin.

If one really thinks about it, there is no imminent threat to australia either from anyone.

The problem is that there are certain individuals who do NOT think about it, and claim that China wants to conquer Australia.

Can you get a doctorate revoked for displaying a singular lack of reasoning ability?

This, BTW, is the same argument USAF has made in resisting dramatically longer range missiles (including a ramjet AIM-120) for the Raptor and its other fighters.

The USAF isn’t going to have anything to do with the AIM-120D? Think again…

These are probably eventual F-5 and F-16 replacements. They’ll likely serve with the Eagles.

You don’t need a massive tailcone to have a rear-facing radar. A few of the original Su-27M prototypes had rear-facing radar systems (or at least the radomes) and they did not have enlarged tailcones.

I think the N012 was the rear facing radar designed for the MFI program, or was that N014?

Yes. The first image has a 96L6 radar following a 5P85T2 TEL. The second image is a 5P85T2 TEL.

Yeah, they have been saying similar things for a while, but this was in direct reaction to the signing of the agreement with the Czechs. The language seems a bit more direct this time as well.

One solution could be to evacuate INF and START/SORT. Then just throw ICBMs on railcars again, and fire them from places around Pechora, Tiksi, and Olenegorsk.

It’s basically a modified second stage from the HQ-2.
