What if it was a North Korean replacement for the Yongbyon reactor…

If the SH is too far outside the capability they’re looking for, than the Gripen would seem to be the logical choice of the three remaining aircraft, although I’d wonder if they perhaps aren’t looking for something more laong the lines of a weaponized and mission-capable T-50?
an inferior A-A platform
I’d love to hear the justification for that one.
S-300P components are being used at the Tolicha Peak EW complex in the Nevada desert.
One or two Tor-M1 TELARs would put a stop to this nonsense. The Sri Lankan Air Force has a few fast jets, why don’t they just firebomb Tamil Tiger held areas and be done with it.
The only project I know which at some time existed was the T-60 – that would be a huge surprise.
Rumor has it that there was a T-60 prototype under construction at one point; perhaps, if the rumors were true, it has been completed to serve as a testbed for the PAK-DA program?
Buy one from Kazakhstan? They operate the type as well.
There used to be images of Su-27s flying over the Nevada desert on the web, but I think the site no longer exists. I think I saved them somewhere.
Why on earth would you need to use a HMCS when fireing on a UAV about as maneruverable as my grandma?
Because the small UAV has a very small IR signature as well. Being able to point the missile seeker head directly at the IR source to ensure lock-on at longer range is more beneficial when the target is comparatively stationary next to the MiG and you don’t want to have to get close enough to risk damage from debris.
Yes, that is the MiG-29OVT as originally displayed. They later removed the wingtip rails for whatever reason and gave it the red/white/blue paintjob see nat various airshows.
Yeayeah, what makes anyone think we cannot make USA run for money? Lavi is better than F-16, and J-10 come from Lavi. so J-10 > Lavi > F-16!
The 20+ year old Lavi was intended to be a strike aircraft in the same class as the F-16A. How in the world that equates to the Lavi being superior to all F-16 variants is beyond me.
F-16 late not late still not compare with J-10.
Based on what factual data, exactly?
Our J-10 have big canary wings so turn good!
Canards do not necessarily equate to outstanding turn performance.
And J10 still no crash but F-16 crash many times!
There have been far more F-16s flying for far longer than the hundred or so J-10s. Of course the F-16 will demonstrate a much higher attrition rate.
a Python V armed F-16 or a AIM-9X armed F-16F will leave the J-10 behind
If it gets that close, maybe. What really matters is the performance of the PL-12.
On a related note, you can see 19 J-10s in Google Earth. See if you can find them all 😀
To answer Daz’s question, yes they really did shut down key streets in New York. They were allowed to do it on early weekend mornings.
Not really. They shut down key areas a few times for filming, but they really exploited the hell out of CGI for this one. Most of the film was shot in the city, and they went through and digitally removed people, their reflections, etc.

The HERMES was over the water and the MiG was heading away from the coastline when he shot. Debris would have landed in the sea…but I do see your point regarding what would’ve been reported.
And please, don’t touch the red button 😀
That’s all well and good, but this is a very small target. That’s why I believe the AAM was the right call. Russia says “make drone dead”, your best bet for a very slow, very small target is to just smack it with an AAM and go home, mission accomplished.
Also, judging by the aspect angle in the video, had the MiG-29 fired any sort of cannon rounds any errant rounds or fragments should have landed in the water. Unless they were designed with Zorg’s Instant Replay thing 😀
