Wow – you’re not wrong about that guy’s panel restoration 😮
Handy link that – have just registered myself as I will find it very useful and informative – thanks….
Lost thread?
Was this one of your lost threads per chance? I ask as it included the photo of that adaptor for the ground power socket to 2 pin….
Assuming we’ve nailed the location – it is possible that you took the above shots from the albeit limited viewpoint from ground level to the right of the old terminal building, alongside the spiral staircase that was a spotters favourite at the time. I certainly did the same, and suspect my shots which are stashed in the loft show the same angle from around the same time period before airport security ended the access point I mention….
I’m almost positive that these are at Birmingham, judging the background against similar views seen on a facebook group I’m in for the old airport:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/254594888087?view=photos plus given that I used to ‘spot’ at the same location at the time these were taken in theory…
Indeed the RAF made use of Derwents after their flying time was over – in the form of the well-known MRD Snow Removal vehicles attached to Bowsers.. 😉
Can’t find the name – but found the accident report:
It is my understanding that several were lost during the period of use at Llanbedr. If you search on Youtube for Llanbedr Firefly there are several videos showing their demise….

Hi there,
I thought I recognised the serial – it was until recently being operated by Mayfair Dove Aviation Ltd, but as of 17th November 2010 their operating licence was suspended by the CAA (see link) I don’t know why, nor what’s happened to the aircraft since…..
Last time I saw it at Kemble during one of our events was 2009
They were very impressive indeed – some great work has gone into them and I’m amazed how they operate the wingwalker models seperately to the aircraft….. stunning display 🙂
The Hind is in it’s BAe house colours as it was being offered as an upgrade project at the time. On loan from BAe after the project was cancelled.
Not you Richard – this website has come in for some criticism both on here and on AiX too:
On the linked Aix thread some editing was done after the outburst referenced to – seems someone doesn’t like to hear the truth 😉
