Thank you for the kind remark about my pictures. I like yours too, especially the one of the Spitfire and Mustang where the pilots appear to be looking at each other and not where they are going a few hundred feet up!
‘Flares’ one is good too. Mine was taken looking almost into the sun.
John
Very dramatic pictures Simon but there are a couple of things I don’t like.
I think that you ought to get your horizons level and I think that you have overdone the sky in the Vulcan pictures – it goes from deep blue (nice) to turquoise (not nice). Also in the view of the Vulcan fin there is a strange conical shape in the sky on the right.
Keep persevering

Yes it was a glorious day. Much appreciated after a gloomy season.
I can’t see why you needed a camera upgrade, your previous stuff was superb too!
I just wish I had been in a position to get a topside shot of the Spartan. All I got was the underside, which didn’t do justice to the shiny finish
John
Mouthwatering! Thank you
John
Brilliant shot of the Deperdussin. I was up the other end of the airfield hoping somebody had caught it turning. Which combination of shutter speed, aperture and ISO did you use?
Did you get one of the Bleriot or was the light too bad by then?
John
Alas no. By the time he got to me Willie, in the Scud, was almost on the ground with the Blackburn above.
Previously I have gone near the control tower to get topside shots as they go around the corner but after seeing Flygirl’s efforts I decided that it was time for a change although I did wish that I was up the other end as the Deperdussin and Bleriot both turned on to the short runway to land
John
I liked the Hunter and Sea Fury. Wish I had been there to see that.
It looked as if the weather wasn’t that kind.
John
I wondered if they were vortices, shed by the a/c as they suddenly applied ‘g’ at the start of a manoeuvre, that had picked up some of the smoke. They were obviously intense and persisted for some time. Several others were formed at different points in the display before I decided to photograph them.
John
Finally dawned on me that KeithB and ‘wrong side of the fence’ indicates that you and I might not be unaquainted…
Best one for me was the Sea Vixen plus blue sky.
Only just realised that you could zoom these by clicking when the hand appears.
John
Gorgeous pictures. Doesn’t it make a difference when the sun shines?
John
Yes indeed, the geese are in front of the microlight. They take up different positions in response to his signals.
According to the commentator he teaches them on the ground by having a ‘walk through’. No mention of how he does this or how long it takes.
John
I suspect that might not be Stuart Goldspink unless someone isnt telling me something. If I were a betting man I would say it was Dave Evans displaying Janie… Maybe Dave should have kept his beard for the weekend…
Some great pics, much better than mine…
Oooh! Clanger time. I’ve amended the post. Thanks
