and if you look to the bottom right of the photo, just above the small wooded area (Arkleston cemetery) is the location of the old Renfrew Airport. 🙂

Night rating cropped up in discussion last week. My instructor was saying I could do a night qualification at the same time as the JAR PPL, with times counting towards the PPL requirements. Can anyone confirm this?

just had a look at the AIP for Glasgow, 3 possible SIDs could fit that description.

ROBBO, CLYDE, or possibly TURNBERRY (via elban, ie left turn after initial climb)

    can’t say anymore than that

I dont think I’d be comfortable settling anywhere outside of Scotland. It would have to be beside a loch, with mountains and a real ale pub nearby. Somewhere in the West or North West Highlands would be high on the list. Maybe around Lochinver, or nearer to Glasgow, Arrochar.

Boddies is apparently available in 2 versions. the more usually available stuff is hte pressure dispensed nitrokeg stuff, I refuse to call it beer. Rarer is the unpastuerised real ale version, which is the one that the folks on the radio would be whinging about.

Personally, I wouldn’t miss it. Give me a pint of ‘Magus’, or a ‘Black Cat mild’ anyday.

    without picking specific airframes:

    1. VS Spitfire
    2. Wright Flyer 1 : ok specific airframe, but probably the most significant small aircraft ever
    3. DH Moth
    4. Bristol Fighter
    5. Avro Anson
    6. Piper pa-28 of some variant
