This song springs to mind for me
Late Sunday 6.30 ish,
Corsair 1 mile east Boreham disused and skirting around Stanted zone
followed quite late by the Catalina which must of made a late landing at Duxford as she passed us about 19.30.
Both aircraft were well throttled back and around 1’400 foot.
Hi Alan, The formation was 2 spits and 2 buchon, not them
Hi Moggs,
No nothing, very vague, but the chap said they were very fast but quiet, I thought Typhoon but he said no, and black! very strange. UFO maybe ?
Today about 40 mins ago Rapide I guess heading Shoreham way
Last evening (FRIDAY)
Corsair, wildcat? together and maybe a Bearcat a few moments later and then a P51 just after, all for Shoreham again I suspect
And I love the press statement about fire engines, standard procedure for any problem like this
Stearman heading SSW over Ulting
I wonder if TFC have bought them
I thought TFC were not interested in Swastika aircraft
Hopefully an oil pipe letting go, blue smoke got to be oil and if shut down oil on a hot engine = smoke
Great work guys, back on the ground all safe and sound with hopefully the worst case an engine change.
Magneto,
Any ideas what these were used for ? I have seen a few around over the years and thought they were for testing plugs etc
I was under the understanding he had them in liew of wages
David, I was told the same thing that connie and his crew were owed from the film and rather than take a chance of not getting paid he took the basically scrap buchons, A good investment I think and also saved them because I am sure Spitfire productions in 1968 woud of had trouble moving them on for much money at all.
A bit itchy is it not?
Stuka models crashing
Heinkel models crashing into the sea, with trailing line
And please do not miss this below, fantastic !
My first Spitfires would of been
1, North Weald in the early 60s maybe.
2, Biggin Gate Guardian late 60s.
3, I did pass North Weald on the bus when filming of the Battle of Britain 1968.
4, But I feel the first where I remember a display was at Halfpenny Green when Adrian Swires MH434 in the capable hands of Ray Hannah, it was a military show I think, very early 1970’s
After sitting in the bomb aimers position for the whole flight, now landed back at humberside.
