She will be back I am sure
I often wonder what price would be put on MH434 if it ever came up for sale. It has a wonderfull post war history. Good news on the Hangar 11 BS410/G-TCHI I last see it in bits many years ago, lots of usable parts in that one.
Pitts/Christian Eagle high, heading WSW S of Boreham disused now.
P51, JANIE ? heading North over the A12 two minutes ago. Witham.
Hello Rob
you wont be seeing the Meteor any more ,its now based in Cornwall so to fly it up to Duxford and back would cost about 12 grand in fuel cost ,at 600 gallons an hour ,20 years work to get a permit to fly and base it in Cornwall ,i was in touch with the chap who worked on it for 20 years as he is also a Radio Ham
600 Gallons per hour? you sure about that and 12 k?
That looks surprisingly like a Harvard cowling to me !
Red Bulls B25 and Corsair off back to Europe I would think.
SEE DUXFORD post for photos.

Thank you
overall it was good TV and remember it is just TV and editors and producers have a story to tell with sometimes a bit of expansion and tension provided for the customer. I did feel a little sick at the footage of RR299 as I had seen her I think about a week or so before at Fighter Meet 96.
The emotion from the presenter was genuine and it was nice that the presenter was a private pilot which allowed a bit more appreciation of the story of similar aged men with these powerfull machine.
Good TV, would I watch it again ? I doubt it.
Hi Steve, I am not sure about that one but as Andy says in #7 no designated but plenty have headstones attached or close by and normally put in by locals, local society’s or individuals.
I was asked about a Merlin engined fighter over Billericay Essex Sunday 11am ish in green.
Any ideas. as I was thinking Hangar 11 P40 maybe or a Hurricane
TA out
Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 applies to aircraft or vessels.
But tha does not designate a War Grave I thought.
is not a war grave where the ground or waters have been consercrated. ( sorry for spelling) and named as a war grave.
As far as I can remember no aircraft crash in UK has war grave status but covered under the PoMRA 1986.

I worked there around 1985/86 on the bunker which is just to the right of the house as you look from the gardens. Every time I walked around to that garden I could hear the end title music from the BoB film where Dowding walks out onto the balcony.

I remember this aircraft tucked into the ACES HIGH hangar with the “Crystal Maze” set still in it. Ray Thomas and a few lads worked on this and of course the B25 “Bedsheet Bomber”
