Looks like it could be Aileron or one of the flying surfaces.
Keep looking as you could end up beating the Dornier off the Goodwin Sands !
THE CANVEY POINT B17
I have been out to this aircraft on many occasions during the early 70s an up to the mid 80s.
Plenty of remains of the B17 remained including two engines, Props, undercarriage leg and with a prob plenty of metal around four feet down.
I know that engines removed ended up at Blake Hall museum along with other bits all lifted with a pallet and flotation drums !
well a cross reference with the Hurricane info has made it work, the only thing I cannot do is dive to find out if it is still or was ever there.
A lot o rumours are just that but then you have to look at stable facts and see if the rumour can fit in at all.
Lets delete this thread ?
Hi Ross,
I did take your post in a different way, sorry for that so please accept my apology.
I do very much understand about the data needs to be precise. The WessexArc document is new to me and a great asset but we also need anecdotal information trickling through to highlight or bring more wrecks to light, ie the Sterbacek Hurricane, this is a lost aircraft and I pretty much think I have located the area through an eye witness no longer with us, I do not know of any listing of a location for the Hurricane apart form the mix-up dig in the 70s, again this is why I started the post.
Now a wonderfull thought,,,, maybe ! A museum dedicated to wrecks from the waters of the UK. I doubt there is a type not covered that is sitting within 5 miles of our shores.
Any thoughts on this?
TA
I did hear American accents also, so must be US
Hey JC,
I am with you, this wind is really getting on my nerves and with this High Pressure over us too who would of thought it, very frustrating for all.
Lets hope the lift goes ahead very soon.
6 or 8 Military helicopters heading north over the A12 Boreham Essex at around 800 feet, very impressive sight indeed
Dear Ross,
Thank you for the direction you have pointed to in the above post and, yes it does make very interesting reading. May I point to 3.5.65, I take it that without said knowledge of this we could of pointed out to the great unwashed our own views and locations of wrecks around the coast of the UK, inland waterways, lakes and reservoirs.
I am really sorry you felt my thread was regurgitating countless posts on this subject, I feel I am not and making an interesting thread for discussions between fellow Forumites who can participate if they wish and not block up another thread that is dedicated to a subject that is very important and not to drift away (see what I did there?) from it.
I was hoping that others may have photographs and details that are not common knowledge and of interest to many of the good people that visit this forum.
If anyone finds this a very BORING subject I will remove it while everone is subdued in slumber.
TA out zzzzzZZZzzzzz
