Such a shame for a beautful aircraft to never get a chance to reveal it’s potential. π

Hi Cees,
I’m not actually sure on more info, but according to http://www.prop-liners.com they say there is a possible survivor.
http://www.prop-liners.com/survivors.htm
With only 12 built I reckon it’s extremely unlikely, but then again, 10 Boeing 307 Stratoliners were built and one still survives !!!
So, who knows.
Cheers
Chris
Well said. Thereβs a lot to be said for a long focal length lens. Check out the shot of the Cat landing on the lake. Same effect.

Hi Dave,
Weren’t really a success, only 12 were built !!
Interestingly 4 were delivered to KLM. They damaged one which got captured by the Japanese and was tested by them.
There is one possible survivor apparently.

That pic with the Lanc at the end flanked by the fighters is great !!!

Russ Williams, who took these photos, is a great guy and runs a very good resource for owners of vintage aeroplanes. He has posted the entire Warner Scarab manual on the web along with a lot of other useful stuff. He is a true enthusiast. I am glad to see you have posted his web address but I would urge people to go visit the site as there is so much to see.
Russ also has a Rearwin Sportster and is doing a great restoration job on it. I met him when he was over last year and flew with him. The SCW used to belong to another friend of mine and I flew that about two years ago. It is a very nice aeroplane but Russ is now making new cowlings. They will be better than new.
I heard today that Russ is planning to come over for the G-VFWE. Sadly I am likely to be in France then.

Hey Melvyn,
As a rule I always try to give the credit back to those who own the photos (it’s only polite) but also his website is awesome.
I spent half an hour just going through his historic aircraft photo collection.
Lot’s of information there, good resource for Rearwins and Ryans.

Well if it was a Hilton hotel and you asked for twins,..what would you get??? π :dev2: :diablo:

They’re not really that expensive either.
The C-82 is a rare beast.
Hollywood should have nabbed that for the remake of the Phoenix film rather than the Boxcar !!
Is H & P going totally turboprop now with C-130’s and P-3’s ?
