To be honmest I thought it was developed into the SBD Dauntless.
The Northrop BT-1 had bad handling traits and no wing folding provision. Douglas sorted this out. You can see the similarities in the tail surface.

Douglas BT-1

Was a originally a Northrop design but Douglas took it over and modified the undercart to retract inwards.

Ha ha, Crazymainer…bring it on !!! 😀

However, the second pic is still eluding me.
I thought it may have been an early prototype Dauntless but those faired wheels are a stigma.
Are they semi-retracted or fixed into position and heavily faired?
Can I ask that as a teeny-weeny clue ???? :p

Also unsure about the DT-5 (the top pic), because all of the variants (DT-1 to 5) are quite similar looking and the photo is not that clear.

But after further research, I’m going to go with DT-2 !!

No 2 looks kinda-like a Douglas TBD-1 Devastator.

Yeah I’ll go along with that, but the undercart is all wrong.
Which makes it a little tricky. Gonna have consult my books when I get home from work… 😀
