    Thanks Crazymainer,

Just out of curiousity, does the 5 bladed prop alter the noise of the Mustang?

Okay and the last pic is a Martin P5M-1G Marlin.
The tricky part of this is the more well known variant was the P5M-2G which had the tee-tail.

You may have seen this pic before but it’s a great one and it
    includes the -2G variant..

    Thanks for the link, Gnome.

I didn’t realise it was a Reno racer.

The helicopter in the 5th pic is an experimental Gyrodyne QH-50 DASH
    DASH = Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter.

Nearly 800 were delivered to the US Navy between 1960 and 1969, however approx 400 were lost in operational use.
Apparently they were designed to fly off a destroyer remotely , drop the torpedoes and fly back, but the sudden weight change opening releasing the torpordoes would often cause them to crash.

If you want some P-40 action I suggest watching 1941. It had the best collection of comedy actors with John Belushi playing Capt. Wild Bill Kelso, trying to find the secret Jap airbase in the Pomona Alfalfa fields. 😎

Oh and that bit where he lands on the highway, pulls into the Petrol Station, jumps out with the P-40 idling and says “fill ‘er up !!”…..

Excellent!!!! and no CGI !!!!!!!!!!! (well a bit of modelling)

Theoritically the inverted V12 would give the Me-109 the same cowling lines as a DB-601 would…

Love to see pics of those if ever possible.

What’s the story with the Ranger engines?
I always thought they were quite an elderly engine, powering the Ryan PT-22 and such, and also a messy one with old tech exposed tappets.

I recall seeing a Zero-Harvard here at Wanaka about 4 years ago I think and it definitely had a 3 blader and the commentary said the radial was uprated.
Looked a lot more authentic but still not quite enough for the goodies….. 😀

    Dees01 – sorry you’re right…I meant AIM 54 Phoenix…I think they have a range of over 100 miles…please correct me if I’m wrong.. 🙂
