Must have been a shock to the gunners on the bombers seeing the 262 for the first time. Mind you the Me-163’s were even more radical and faster I believe (if only for a very short time !!)

Did you see the pic of the 262 hitched up to the halftrack “KETTENKRAD” and the period photos with the “GI’s”?
    Magnificent stuff !!!!!!

Just been looking at the superb pics of the 262 flying and parked next to the B-17 on the Stormbirds website.

Did the Me-262 ever encounter the B-17 in the closing stages of WW2 ?

Is it common practice still to have a marshall wielding a fire extingusher on Spitfire (or any Warbird for that matter) start up sequences or are engine fires on start-up a rare thing nowdays?

Wow, 2 of my favourite aircraft, Connie and Spad..
Thanks for the great pic !!

Interesting to note that both aircraft utilise the Wright R3350 Cyclone twin row radial.

Have to ask, is “avenger” french for “skyraider ” ? 😀

    Cheers
    Chris

Daz doesn’t claim to be all knowing or in the know – I refer to other posts – Daz has a rare trait nowdays – humility – and quiet knowledge

Hey I couldn’t agree with you more 🙂
I’ve learnt a lot about Spitfires through here, esp the K5054 info I needed.

    All good !!!

If you want to know absolutely anything about Spits (or replicas), Daz is definitely “Da Man” !!!
