Nope, the one and only Isaacs Spitfire.

    Just for a comparison…

Photo one – Taylor Monoplane (I think in New Zealand)
Photo two – something in between – a Taylor Titch converted into a Spitfire XIV replica
Photo three – the Isaacs Spit.

You can forgive my confusion, they are very similar to my untrained eye !! 😀

    Thanks for the info.
The Mk XIX PR blue colour scheme looks hot !!

…and what a BEAUTIFUL job they did of that ’47 as well.
    My favourite warbird for sure.

Hope it gets to NZ for Wanaka 2006…….

I don’t quite know the history of this O-1’s paint scheme that I took a pic of at Wanaka 2004.
Perhaps Dave H might know ’bout this

    Cheers

    Hiya from NZ

While we’re on the subject of downsizing, this pic of a Camel from WOW 2004 was downsized from 683kb to 86kb, (well under the 100kb limit) just by using MS Paint and reducing length and width to approx 25% (I think from memory)
I don’t think it loses to much clarity
    (I like this pic BTW !!) 😀

Basically they would have been the same spec as the old RNZAF Skyhawks before we “lovingly” sold them off…. 😡

That H-1 replica is a beautiful aircraft. Very sad.

    Now , how about an R-4360 28 cylinder, 1/5th scale…
    That would be impressive !!!!!

Camm vs Mitchell. Mitchell was a very, very good marine a/c designer and a flukey warplane designer. Camm was just very good as a designer. Camm was head and sholders above Mitchell IMHO. While the Spitfire was (and is) a great plane, take that away, and Mitchell designed few earthshatteringly important a/c.

    Cheers

True, but that elliptical wing Mitchell designed was one of, if not the best fighter wing designed for WW2. Able to nearly make mach 1 and not tear itself apart, it was apparently better than the laminar flow that was made for the Spiteful and Attacker (I know he didn’t design them..).
Can’t really call that flukey, got to be expertise.

    Just my 2 cents worth….

    Cheers
