I’m sure Hawkinge had a Jason replica that used to be hung up in Hotel in Croydon. I can’t remember what it was made of though.
Re: Gotha replica.
Folkestone is the nearest town to Hawkinge, type in Gotha and Folkestone into Google and you will see how appropriate the exhibit will be to the museum, Planned expansion including a new hangar will finally allow the collection to exhibit its WW1 artefacts.
Its not just the aero jumbles that are struggling, just look at the traders at Duxford these days and the demise of some well established events over the last few years.
I went to Brenzett yesterday and still managed to find a few bits that made the trip worthwhile. There is no substitute for actually seeing something in the flesh, which is often the problem with a lot of stuff on ebay.
For me the only real answer is to combine the aerojumble with an event day or militaria fair, otherwise the stand alone autojumble will fade away. Just an idea but how about a southern Cockpitfest at Brenzett!
G-ORDY, I believe you are correct on this id, all the Portuguese Hurricanes had the tab fitted to the rear of the aerial mast which rules them out, PZ685 had the individual exhaust stacks and a whip aerial, L1592 had a much smaller earlier radio mast and far as is known was not in taxying condition, P2617 had the tab on the aerial mast unlike this photo and the smaller three stack exhausts although I do have a close up sporting a square mirror.
There was also another Hurricane used in the film for the studio shots, I believe it is Z3687 which was used as a spares source for LF363 at the time.
Check out the May 2012 issue of Aeroplane for further info.
The reg should be N76GE. The N90605 reg related to when Connie Edwards first registered the aircraft in the US and put the tag on the instrument panel.
As far as i know it did fly once with George Enhorning and was ground looped.

Dusty!
The old hangar is due to be restored and repositioned in the near future, which should improve conditions for all of the airframes not just the vimy.
Im guessing the engines were inhibited after it arrived at the museum.

Very sad news indeed, I had the pleasure to meet Graham on numerous occasions over the years and his passion for the Blenheim was unsurpassed. Always helpful and encouraging and above one of life’s true gentleman.
RIP Graham

Hi Martin
See if you can find a copy of a this Monograph, you occasionally find them on ebay.
Also Flypast produced an excellent cutaway drawing some years ago.
As far as I’m aware no one has produced a set of plans specifically for the Buchon.
BTW, What scale will the model be.
All the best
Gary
For Avia 199 try this.
Or Leo Nomis’s book Desert Hawks

Try these

as far as I’m aware nothing has been published in English other than magazine articles or the odd mention in books on the 109 and He111
It might be worth tracking down this issue of the much missed Classic Aircraft Mag.

Hi Dunbar
Many thanks for the insight, I agree, flying the four ship even for twenty minutes was a tremendous gesture, not surprisingly several hundred people had gathered around the airfield preimeter to witness the spectacle.
Out of interest can Spitfire’s be insured on a limited flying hours per year policy.

I agree with that they weren’t aloft for very long, and Kenley had a service at the ‘tribute’ that would have been an easy one to fly over, but I guess it come down to fuel costs, its a credit to Peter Monk that he and his partners fund these flights, if they are very local.
Here’s a shot of RW382 coming into land.

Mike’s funeral is tomorrow this is from the Kent Battle of Britain Museum’s Face Book page.
Following the sad death of the Museum’s curator and founder, Mike Llewellyn M.B.E, we can now give those of you who may wish to attend his funeral some details about the day. The service will be held at Hawkinge Crematorium on Wednesday 6th November, 2:00pm. Mike will be carried on the back of his beloved Leyland Cub fire engine, lined by the museums volunteers for the short journey to the cremato…rium, setting off from the museum at 1:45pm. Weather dependant, the service will be accompanied by a flypast from a Spitfire & Hurricane. Mike has requested that no flowers are to be sent and would prefer anyone wishing to do so to make a donation to The Kent Battle of Britain Museum trust. If you have any further questions then please feel free to get in touch. Thank you.
Very sad news indeed, John was one of the finest display pilots to ever grace the Old Warden circuit, his displays in AR501 were legendary and I feel very privileged to have seen them.
RIP John.
