Yes, I thought you might. Nothing to be forced to be kind about. A delightful little film which has pretty much done the job of selling it to me. That and the reviews on Amazon. It seems to be exactly what should be in his Christmas Stocking!:)
AAh! Bristol not Westland. It evolved out of the Bristol 173, didn’t it and went on to serve for 10 or 15 years I think. Designed and built by Bristol Aeroplane Co and I have fond memories of it at Farnborough and elsewhere in the early sixties.
He is just 9 and already deftly uses the video camera on the iPhone. Many thanks for that lead.
Returning to the serious debate – thank you. Yes it is the first time, IF the results are proven. Does it mean to say that it can be replicated? Was it in fact a freak occurrence?
For man to exceed the speed of light requires an entirely new physics. Man has great mass whereas this particle which MAY have exceeded the speed of light was infinitesimally small. We also stumble up against the theory of relativity and the dilation of time as the speed of light is approached.
I think the complexities of travelling at the speed of light are a million times more complicated than travelling faster the speed of sound. But I am fascinated by what we will learn from these CERN experiments.

Of course – particularly as he had not indicated his intention!!

Yes – I agree – I was forming that thought in my mind as I was typing. Apologies for the omission.
They put us to shame!!
Not at all. Everyone contributed and helped to win it equally, but some were quickly forgotten. And it’s marvellous that so many of you who are still with us, and are still so able to help us remember.
Thanks – I’ll have a look for it.
Great story – good for her. Those ATA girls were the unsung heroes until a very good programme a few months ago. Does anyone know any good books on the subject? I could browse but recommendations count for a lot.
“The problem is with this is that it doesnt generate “Statistics” which is what the government wants. Policing is run like a business these days, It shouldnt be.”
I don’t really agree with much of what you said before that sentence. But with that I totally agree. A policeman should have only two priorities and they are to maintain law and order and to seek and apprehend criminals. And they should be seen to be so doing. From that everything else will flow into place.
Successive governments have sought to erode the police’s primary role and make it increasingly difficult to carry out its basic responsibilities.

Good point, Nashio, so you have to ask yourself why the police, in general, have lost so much respect and are held in such low esteem across the board.
