Yes, I think that is correct. Bill is 85 and Ian just a whippersnapper at 65!! It is salutary to realise that Clive Dunn is now of the age he has actually been playing for the last 60 years!!

there’s some terrific new commedy not going out is quick witted and hilarious

    only fools and horses
the vicar of dibley obviously you have to ignore the terribly un funny dawn french but the supporting cast are hillarious
    green green grass
    pheonix nights
max and paddys road to nowhere
    allo allo
    absolutely fabulous

Comedy is a subjective matter. Some of these are hardly “new” and you can keep Fools and Horses and Green, Green Grass – never found either remotely funny. I agree with the rest but thought that Allo, Allo and Absolutely Fabulous went on for too many series. Surprised you omitted Fawlty Towers and Blackadder to name just two……

OK – sorry – never heard of that and have never seen Eastenders. I’ll ask Mrs SH – she will know as she is a fan!

    “..ethel off eastenders…..”?

She had a long career on stage and in many TV series and dramas during the 60s and 70s. In her nineties when she died.

Indeed. The original concept of human rights as applied after the war has been totally lost in the miasma of legal argument and diminished as a result.

“If ever the whole of Europe needed a day to have a holiday it should be 6 June”

I am not meaning to quibble, but if the powers that be do not see fit to have VE Day as a holiday I don’t think D-Day would be in the running. D-Day, great though it was, was but one of many interlocking elements which resulted in the allied victory.
