Exactly right. The continuing whining about this is tedious in the extreme. If that Vulcan is not for you, fair enough, but why continue to criticize those for whom it means a great deal. We are all free to distribute what little or much we have to wherever we wish and I do not think that any funds destined for the Vulcan would be diverted to “warbirds”, of which there are a great many in existence, if that project was wound up.

However, reading the sentiment of the OP, I do think 18 months square bashing would teach more young people the value of things, tidiness, and and and and.
