Yes, I agree with your comment, as I implied in my earlier post. It doesn’t mean we have to agree with it, does it? How did you manage to omit civil servants and senior local government officials, many of whom are grossly overpaid and where of course economics does not dictate?;)

There is a thread in Historic about this, where I posed the question – why?? Why 60 miles north of the wretched games venue?:mad:

Thank you, Mark, although, if the extract you have quoted is anything to go by, I might get lost in verbal obfuscation. I’ll give it a go, anyway.

More to the point can someone explain what the restrictions are for? Why are there restrictions at all? I do not understand what they have to do with the Olymic games, or am I being a bit dim.

Ringo – I took absolutely no offence whatsoever.:) Like you I don’t think it should have been moved but although I am happy to throw in my twopennorth on the pros ( are there any? ) and cons of turbines per se I cannot contribute with any specialist aviation knowledge in relation to their effect on Duxford. The problem is that left here the debate will focus on the non-aviation aspects, which I know you are happy to debate, but there might be minimal contribution from the Duxford point of view.

By the way I don’t think your word “backwater” will be appreciated.;);)

Don’t misunderstand me. I realise that market conditions apply but I was only expressing a point of view about the sorts of sums of money “big stars” can earn on US TV. Hugh Laurie has certainly benefitted…………….;)

If the OP specifically does NOT want to discuss Nimbyism or indeed the range of more serious objections to turbines but wants to concentrate on the potential effect on Duxford and its operations then it has nothing to with GD. I will not contribute further to the thread because I have absolutely no knowledge which would advance the debate in this specific area.

Symon – you have not answered the actual questions I posed nor addressed what seems to me to be the illogical method of operation. You merely refer to passengers being “spooked” whatever the hell thatm means, whilst in the queue. Is this “spooking” a function of the operation? What does it achieve?
