I answered the three questrions you posed in your post in capital letters after each of your questions – sorry, if it was not clear.

Unless a bloke told me in a pub (or on a forum) I’ll treat anything with a healthy dose of skepticism, however I do give more credence to some sources than others, when taking other factors also into account.

Having said that, I’m looking forward to seeing that squadron of Sopwith Snipes that is due to form according to Shaz in the Sunday Sport

A bloke in a pub!! You are joking, I hope…….;)

Having read all the pros and cons regarding the death penalty, taking into account all views posted I think nearly everyone is against the death penalty, even if the evidence is 99.9% positive.
Given that, may one ask what could be done to make, 1) The judicial system more efficient in dealing with murder, whether pre meditated or not. NOT SURE WHAT “EFFICIENT” MEANS IN THAT CONTEXT.

2). What penalty, if YOU were the judge would you dish out to these offenders to, (Hopefully) deter future murders,by others, taking into account our prisons are overflowing. PRISONS ARE OVERFLOWING BECAUSE MINOR CRIMINALS ARE INCARCERATED WHO SHOULD NOT BE. CAPITAL MURDERERS SHOULD BE LOCKED UP FOR LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE. IT WILL NOT DETER BUT THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS NO LONGER ANY CHANCE OF EARLY RELEASE MIGHT CAUSE SECOND THOUGHTS IN SOME CASES.

3). How could we find the missing .9% to make the perfect?. 100% case. I THINK YOU MEAN 0.1%, WHICH IS SPECULATION BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS. BUT THE GENERAL RESPONSE WOILD BE THAT THERE WILL NEVER BE A 100% RELIABLE METHOD. AND EVEN THE SMALLEST MARGIN OF ERROR CANNOT JUSTIFY A DEATH.

    See above, Linc.

Good to hear you are home with your own “creature comforts”. I hope you get disconnected as soon as possible so that you can get back “on the road” which gives you, and us, of course, so much pleasure.:)

Exactly right, Tornado, as a deterrent it is a failure.

Let me re-phrase it, Inkworm, should we really rely on any media report? Having said that and in response to your last point, possibly not.

I would only add this thought to the thread – that if you have been closely involved with a family of which a member has been wrongly found guilty and hanged, then the scintilla of doubt surrounding any conviction rules out the choice of death, regardless of any other argument. And, of course, the worst argument for capital punishment is revenge.
