I can only find the Mini-Aeronca Champ on UK websites – is this the one you refer to. There is another on Hobbyzone USA.
Inkworm – you seem to be missing a crucial factor. Because the turbines run irregularly you have to have alternative, efficient energy production, therefore you still require conventional energy production. The problem is exacerbated because, at the moment and for the forsseeable future their energy produced cannot be stored.
In fact the more turbines you build the more conventional power stations you need. Since the science on the effect of carbon emissions is at best partially proven and at worst not proven at all, it is to my mind, utter folly to invest in this expensive, inefficient form of energy production.
And if 32% efficiency, which is the absolute maximum attained, is regarded as ” not sounding too bad” I dread to consider that percentage of efficiency spread across all of manufacturing. I don’t think we managed that even in the dark days of the 3-day week
None of these problems would have existed if the new nuclear programme had beeen commissioned 10 years ago when we would have secured our elecrticity needs for a generation or more with carbon free energy.

Borne out of our post-war arrogance, when we still thought the world wanted our products, when of course they were queeing up to by wherever they could get the best value for money. And with ever repressive union restrictive practices we were never able to offer the market what it wanted, when it wanted it. That’s an over-simplification but fundementally true.

All the best for a speedy return to normal – we miss your posts here….:)
Eighteen months after I first dragged myself into the 21st century and got online,I’ve at last got a message from someone who wants to put $8,000,000 in my bank account.
It’s a miracle, all I have to do is send them my account details and they’ll even send me a photo of the car crash that killed this fabulously wealthy relative I didn’t even know I had 😀
:D:D Sounds like your lucky day……..;);)

BB – it doesn’t say anything meaningful in itself. The numbers of killed need to be related to the total troops deployed by each country and the areas in which they are deployed for that statistic to have any meaning.

Well it’s made 27 posts here for starters and no doubt more to come knowing this forum.:)

The only reason the statistical effect on birds is low is because the turbines don’t work much of the time….but the pro-windies seem to omit that from their argument.

Couldn’t have put it better than the last two posts, es[pecially Bob’s last para. The only bit omitted was the hidden surcharge on each and every electricity bill of 10% plus and if Mr Huhne’s barking mad plans are ever implemented that percentage will double.
