My comment was directed at Distiller’s post and your endorsement of it. I am not sure that that is entirely looking at the situation as it stands. As it stands a member or members of the US military have supplied a group of individuals with thousands of confidential documents, which the group has chosen to make public. Quite separately the leader of the group is wanted in Sweden on unrelated allegations. That, as I understand it, is the situation as it stands., but please correct me if my summary is wrong.

Yes, I agree, Graham, and his writings speak for themselves and tell you so much about the man – except for his supreme aviation skills, which only those of us who were priveleged to see, will fully understand.

Spot on duxfordhawk and I agree with almost all of your comments. The problem is that it is human nature to find a scapegoat for things we have limited control over and you are one who’s job puts you in the front line.

Where we do part company is on the question of the future. The dilemma is that we simply do not know. The jury is extending its stay “out” of the global warming theory but there is considerable evidence that we are entering one of the cyclical cooling periods called Little Ice Ages. Evidentially we are now more than 10,000 years into the warm inter-glacial period which precedes a 100,000 year ice age. So climatically you may well be right, but try telling that to the current received political “wisdom”!!

I reckon the news of the snow, ice and specific appalling conditions has been well reported NATIONWIDE. And the assessment of whether or not we can justify the investment of millions in equipment and resources for future bad winters, is timely and correct. However asking the “government scientist” to offer his conclusions might not necessarily be the best way…….

10cms, no more and the weather system seems to be moving north so it will probably die out in the next couple of hours.
