Those who want to assimilate are and always have been welcome. It is those who have no desire to assimilate who are not welcome.

Sadly, as you are probably aware, there is a fear of offending racial “minorities”. After the Lawrence case the police were left emasculated. We need to return to unashamed rule of British law and renounce the ECHR, and, if necessary, amend our indigenous human rights legislation.

If immigrants don’t like it they are free to return from whence they came. If people do not want to assimilate then they should go home. This is not racist. Living as a guest in a foreign country and abusing that hospitality is racist.

I don’t disagree, in principle, with doing what has to be done to get evidence from potential terrorists. The problem is that so far as we understand the intelligence garnered from most of these people has been of limited use. Other methods seem to be more productive. And if you have got the wrong man you torturing him will do no good because he knows nothing or he will say anything to stop the torture.

    And this from the Telegraph:

“The overall legal bills could exceed £8.5m as some of the cases have been running for at least two years. Sixty barristers were vetted and cleared to work on the papers, each of which was expected to cost around £50,000 per year.

This is in addition to the compensation for the men, at least one of whom is expected to receive more than £1 million of taxpayers’ money and all of whom were expected to get at least £200,000.

There is also the cost of the time taken to prepare for the case by staff in the Foreign Office, Home Office, MI5 and MI6.”

Next time – if there is a next time – try a credit card or a CD you’re not that keen on anymore. They make excellent scapers! Or even better, buy a scraper………:)

27vet – or would your second thought be counter-productive? I would have agreed with your first thought but I was interested to discover if there were indeed people, like the Doctor, who would be prepared to risk the lives of their loved ones for the greater principle, with which, I presume, most of us agree.
