It was a good programme and shown in amongst the Beeb BoB season although obviously not directly relevant. MS is an enthusiastic flyer and presenter and was struggling to navigate the light twin along the original route.

Elliott – I do not think that the film of Charlotte Gray did justice to the book and neither it would seem has the currrent stage production of Birdsong, in London.

Hey, simple answer – if you can’t stand the wall to wall coverage of this pretty impressive rescue there is a switch on your remote to allow you to change channels.

Absolutely true and I did but that’s not the point. I do not pay my License Fee to have two publicly funded channels showing the same thing! And I resent paying for an excessive contingent of BBC employees to cover the story.

Doea anyone else share my irritation with the BBC which early today was showing identical broadcasts on 24 hour news and BBC1. That’s what they have News 24 for isn’t it? Perhaps it’s to justify the massive BBC media circus in Chile which is reported as being more than all the other UK broadcaters put together.

And incredible and amazing as the story is do we really need to hear inane yattering from reporters with nothing to say between the appearances of the rescues miners? Ridiculous!:mad:

I forgot On the Beach – Neville Shute – chilling and the film did the novel a huge disservice.
