You are a lucky man – sadly I have had to shed about 500 books in the last year and I now operate a strictly one in one out basis so I too have a backlog but also lose a few old favourites from time to time.

Bruce – that’s a rather oversensitive reaction. I am not “laying anything at anyone’s door” I am stating a fact. I could not care less if people dismiss something as rubbish and laud another peice of work that I might find rubbish. It is so subjective that it is pointless to argue about it, other to debate the actual technical merit in a work. But even that is rarely an objective debate.

😀 so, in short, another typical National Geographic story! And to think how addicted we were to those glossy, yellow treasures which dropped on to the doormat every month. How much has changed……..:(

Do we really set much store by this research based on estmates of this and two different computer models making predictions from ther information fed to them? And so what? 8,000 deaths is a fraction of deaths from a dozen other causes.

At the end of the day the plane will be grounded or it will continue to fly courtesy of large amounts of cash. If no one in the UK is willing then what is the view? Maintain a flying Vulcan somewhere else or accept that it will never fly again. It is all down to pounds, dollars, or roubles.
