…and so long as they use democratic means restricting that aim is oppressive.

In am not sure that your first point is correct, such are the complexities of constitutional law, but assuming it to be so for the purposes of this thread, the logical extension of your second point is that they succeed in their aims and that the Uk becomes a Muslim state under Sharia law. Perhaps you are comfortable with that, but I am not.

Why is the banning of Islam4UK good news? What exactly have they done to deserve the ban?

The banning of ‘opposition’ groups by oppressive regimes is how we spot the bad guys isn’t it?

In would say that the very last thing the UK is, is oppressive. That’s the problem we are now so tolerant and so pragmatic after years of multiculturism that we have effectively opened the door to people whose sole purpose is antagonism and ill-will to us and our country.

Free speech is one thing but Islam4 uk directly represented Al-Muharijoun, which was banned under the Terrorism Act for inciting violence. Islam4 uk’s purpose is to make the Uk a dominantly Muslim state under Sharia law. That is their stated objective. So how you can ask the question in your first sentence, I do not know.:(

Federalism implies a constitutional sovereign authority acting over a group of political entities. I don’t think the Thatcher interpretation was any different.

I prefer to vote for my sovereign authority in Whitehall, not Brussels. Any subsidiary political entity will gradually cede power to the sovereign authority which will ultimately control the key levers of power – foreign policy, defence and finance. Without these the nation state ceases to exist in anything but name.

We can see this happening in Europe already, except that they had already started to build and staff embassies and missions worldwide before the Lisbon Treaty allowing the appointment of a President and a foreign Minister, by any other name, had been ratified.

I think if it’s outragous you have to be suspicious, but on the whole most of the aeroplane tapes are pretty good. Sometimes it can get confusing with real and large r/c models, also people mislabelling what they post. But there are some gems.
