    All…

    Ryan

You have taken part of what I wrote, out of context, in response to a post from Nashio996. But at least we know your position, although it is not entirely clear how you would feel if a close friend or a member of your family was wrongly found guilty of murder and hanged. It’s a bit late then, isn’t it?

Why is it a ‘cop out’? I’m not defending the actions of these people; they should be ashamed of themselves.

All I’m saying is, that of the sixty-odd million people in Britain, so far we have five people implicated in grand-theft poppy-tin (if you count the kid in the push-chair)…

...it’s hardly the disintegration of civilised society is it?

I don’t think anyone suggested it was, did they? It was “just a crime” that’s all!

Picking up on the Biafran Airlift theme, what about Berlin. Has that ever been filmed? A rich array of pilots and aircraft ( I suppose that would be the problem)………………..

Old Shape, there’s no point whatsoever throwing various scenarios at me because that isn’t what we’re talking about here; we’re talking about a collection tin being stolen, which is what I’m expressing an opinion on. Nothing more, nothing less. Again, I agree fully the people who stole it are total low life cretins and I said that in my original post.

Sky High, I have no idea whatsoever why you’re having such difficulty understanding my point, and it actually worries me that your attitude would seem to indicate you consider stealing a collection tin containing 20 quid to be as bad a crime as someone getting stabbed for the sake of their wallet, which may contain absolutely nothing. Stealing is a crime however you look at it, but I have no idea how you can imply all incidents of theft should be looked at in the same way. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

    Paul

No sense to you Paul, but every sense to me, so we will have to agree to differ, as we are clearly unlikely to find any common ground.

I have been in contact with this fellow that is trying to construct a script for a movie about Stanford Tuck. Hope it’s fine that I go public with it. If the guy in sincere, he is trying to get support from a company so the movie can be made. Could be interesting

That’s interesting and in a not dissimilar vein I was pondering a film about Eric Brown. I suppose the key to any film about a great aviator in or out of conflict lies with their personal story. I know little about Bob Stanford Tuck’s or Eric Brown’s personal lives but much as many of us would enjoy 100 mins of aviation a successful film would have to have a “rounded” story.

    Not ‘The Channel Dash’ please!

The last thing we need is another war film that makes the British military look like a bunch of bumbling idiots!

Hopelessly disorganised, the British sit-around drinking tea as the super-efficient Kriegsmarine sails two pocket-battleships right under their noses. Finally a suicide-mission is launched in a few obsolete biplanes which, of course, are hacked down by the super-efficient Luftwaffe, but not before some genuine heroics by the formation-leader…..who is Irish…

…actually forget everything I’ve said…..it sounds perfect for Hollywood! :diablo:

If you’ve got to use Swordfish how about the raid on Taranto…..or is that a bit too successful for warfilm about the British?

Surely we should not be squeamish about making films that show the truth, good and bad? It does not detract from the courage of those at the pointy end.

There is a worrying trend here from some posters. Perhaps it’s age but I was brought up to understand that stealing is stealing and the circumstances are irrelevant. Perhaps this cavalier attitude that some have expressed here is a symptom of the age in which we now live. I find it rather depressing but perhaps unsurprising.:(

I would like to see some thing from the Axis point of view for a change.in a way they have more to tell.

In response to the marvellous documentary about the Coventry Blitz it would be interesting to make a film along similar lines about Dresden or Hamburg.

I think this one is actually going ahead – with filming both in China and in the USA…

Are you sure? Then that is something to look forward to. Do you have any other info – director, stars, aircraft etc?

Good grief, Olympus, what a marvellous website! I know my limitations, much as I could gladly place an order today! I will start at a lower level, knowing what I could work my way towards. Thanks.:D

One was touted a while ago, John Woo to direct if memory serves, US focus so box office and backing would be easier.

I mean nothing by that other than films cost money, and the US has biggest bank balance and potential viewers !

Interesting – I wonder if it is sitting in a studio’s script dept awaiting developement. The rider to your comment makes complete sense – there will be many films which would never be made because the mega-bucks would not be on offer. As another poster said earlier, films are made to make money.
